“Once again a brilliant stay”

“Usual fabulous treatment from the staff. There is no aircon so it was horribly warm on Thursday evening in the attic rooms”

“Amazing break! Staff all friendly. Food in main restaurant was amazing and had a great massage at spa by Hannah. Spa was all lovely and clean and not overcrowded. The only thing was the relaxation room was not open after our massage as we chose the last session. The pastries at breakfast were not worth the calories as a bit stodgy. Other dishes were absolutely amazing. Thanks”

“Looking quite tired now in some of the rooms and have had to report maintenance requirements in different on my last 3 stays. Change of policy to not offer breakfast as part of a package without any change in price is sneaky and wasn't communicated at booking.”

“Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary.”

“The rooms were really clean, and the staff was amazing. They were helpful and attentive to anything that I needed. The food, oh my, the food - so, so good. Over the course of a week, I had the fish & chips, the burger, a chicken Caesar salad, and multiple variations of the eggs Benedict. The location is great, providing lots of opportunities to explore and walk around. Thanks, Hartford Hall!”

“This hotel is in a very old Tudor style building with heaps of charm and quirkiness. This is a popular and busy pub/restaurant/hotel. Our room was on the top floor with access by stairs with high risers. The double bedroom was small with only one bedside table and no cupboards and only one stool so it is best suited to a one night stay. The room was clean and tidy with again the charm of an uneven floor which is not a problem just be aware. As the room is close to the roof it can get very warm...

“The staff at the hotel was so so lovely and very helpful. We were racing at Oulton Park and it was a hot weekend and they always filled my water bottle with lots of ice so I could stay cool. The restaurant had good food. For a very simple hotel I was very impressed with the staff and also how clean the room was. It's definitely not a super fancy hotel but for a quick drive to the track it's great.”
