Very very satisfied with the cost of stay, location, overall amenities and the very accommodating staff. The place is very close to everything and is located in a very safe location. Highly recommended!
Love staying here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Only concern was the rooms smell old and humid. Might be because the building is very old but overall great experience and location is very good.
I was a little hesitant to stay in a hostel cause it was my first time, but it was honestly great. All the people were super nice. The staff the guest. It’s like a big family once you are in the kitchen cooking and getting to know everyone sitting areas entertainment areas it’s a great place to stay.
I had a private suite which I really enjoyed but the friends that I met there told me that the other rooms are really nice too
Great location. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Bathrooms were also clean with plenty of hot water. The kitchen was modern and well stocked. Blazing saddles bike rentals offers a $24 dollar, 24hr rental for guests. I highly recommend this hostel!
Great location downtown, easy access to get everywhere. Great things to explore walking in every direction. Easy access to public transportation. Very helpful staff. Big kitchen & common rooms to hang out. Thanks for a great visit. ;)
They have on site laundry machines, a gracious kitchen, plenty of showers and the beds are pretty comfortable. All in all my favorite hostel in San fransisco
Best value for a hostel bunk in San Francisco. Consistent, the bunks are comfortable, and they have snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby, that’s a nice touch when you don’t have the energy to leave the hotel. Would definitely stay again.
I stayed at HI San Francisco Downtown for an extended stay while I was in San Francisco, and I had a genuinely good experience. The location is extremely convenient, especially for getting around the city by BART and public transit. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the common areas made it easy to work, relax, and meet people from different places.
The kitchen was especially useful for a longer stay because I could cook instead of eating out every day. I also appreciated the overall social atmosphere without feeling like I had to participate in anything. For someone traveling solo or staying in San Francisco for more than just a couple of nights, that combination was valuable.
As with any shared hostel, your experience can depend somewhat on the room and other guests, and shared facilities naturally come with some tradeoffs. But overall, I felt comfortable during my stay and the hostel became a very practical base for me in San Francisco.
I would recommend it to solo travelers, students, job seekers, or anyone looking for a centrally located and social place to stay in SF without paying typical downtown hotel prices.

Around 40 minutes from the airport and only a few blocks from the metro station. Everything you need is a few minutes walk from the hostel. Property is a great deal and was safe. Welcoming environment and everyone was respectful. Room was clean and working wifi. It’s great to see this type of hostel in the US.
This was my first stay in a hostel and I was very impressed. The room was clean and neat, it was quiet, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.
