The hotel had a large well fed rat that joined us for breakfast. The fifth floor had windows without a guard that opened fully and started just a few feet from the floor. It felt a little too dangerous for my taste to be exposed to the 5th floor drop. Not a family friendly location.

The old elevator was a unique experience. Rooms were nice and clean. Valet service was great. Coffee maker in lobby was convenient. Housekeeping kept the hotel very clean. Didn’t have hot water when we arrived and had to take a cold shower. Complimentary breakfast was not impressive. Didn’t have body soap in the room, asked front desk to refill it but never happened. Overall a good experience.

This was my second time staying at this charming hotel. I love the character of the old/updated building. The staff is very nice and the hotel is centrally located allowing for easy travel to and from destinations. There is a small refrigerator in the room and Trader Joe's a block and a half away, along with a selection of small cafes within a block or two in all directions. I plan to stay here again, when I am back in the bay.

The rooms were very noisy, you could hear people walking around all night. The bathroom had a very strong sewer/drain smell which permeated into the room, which required us to keep the door closed. The location was good since you're 20 minutes away from many points of interest. It was a good experience for the price.

I love the early 1900 structure of the building. And the 60s retro mod that they did for updating the rooms. I felt like the hotel was in a good location whether you were doing fisherman’s wharf or the San Francisco Bridge or court tower. I would stay there again and probably will!

I enjoyed my stay here. Staff was really helpful and price was reasonable enough that valet parking felt included. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. I wouldn't walk around the neighborhood at 2am, but room and hotel felt very safe. Several brunch places nearby. breakfast was basic but good. The breakfast had gluten free bread and the restaurant next door had several clearly marked gluten free options.
