Great place and quiet.. My only issue was there was one bathroom for quite a few cabins and tent sites... Would like to see 2 or more stalls instead of just one... Great wooded area

The Pinecone Palace cottage I stayed at was wonderful. It had everything I needed- clean room, comfortable bed, TV, outdoor space, and kitchenette. The outdoor space included a table and chairs and a fire ring, and parking was close. There was a heater and humidifier to keep me comfortable, and the kitchen area was furnished with dishes and utensils, and had a table with pull out stools. I would recommend Bear Necessities Cottages to anyone looking for a perfect stay, an easy drive from downtown Seward.

The location of the Bear Necessities cottages is rural and quiet, yet close to town. Our cottage, though small, was clean and comfortable with a good shower. There is no air-conditioning, which is typical in Alaska. Heat was provided by a diesel heater. This was a little unusual, but we got used to it and it worked fine. No complaints. Would easily stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pinecone Palace. It was a great location, close to many hiking trails and lakes as well as to the local restaurants in Seward. Host communicated well and made everything easy.

The unit was one of a variety of cabins on the property. The layout of the cabin was a bit of a surprise as the listing on Expedia didn’t specifically identify the photos for each cabin. What we missed was a chair or two to sit on other than on the bed, but once seeing the size of the unit, it would be difficult to find room for that. The unit was clean, the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We prepared a meal there. The deck has a lovely forest view which we enjoyed. Management was very responsive.

Nice little cottage outside town

Cute cottage however the lighting was dim. Towels were beige and okay. The loft had a full bed but a small space to stand upright. Bathroom door did not latch and lock. Also bit cramped to place any toiletries. Place did not have a fan just a humidifier for air circulation. It was quiet and peaceful around the property with nice outdoor fire pit area. Location is outside town of Seward in back country road.

I wasn’t going to leave a review but I figured it would be helpful for other potential people looking to camp here. When I first got here I was super confused on where to park and honestly not expecting so many people to be staying on the property. I booked a tent site with the assumption that it was more of a regular campsite - a little space to yourself, fire pit, etc. It was indeed not like that at all. I called the owner when I first got there to help ease confusion and she seemed really kind and helpful on the phone on where to park and where to camp. However, I did have my two dogs with me and they’re not super friendly with strangers. The last thing I wanted was for them to have their barking annoy others and to also be a bit aggressive toward people walking nearby (2 Great Pyrenees). The camping was not exclusive spaces but rather more of a communal camping with strangers and sharing a sole fire pit. I sat on my car and considered whether or not to stay after waiting all day for 4pm to roll around. I instead decided to make the drive from Seward back home to Fairbanks rather than staying that night. It seemed like a great place to stay with a group of family or friends but not so much as a female by herself. Just felt as though the camping sites weren’t as transparent about the space as I thought when booking.
