โThe Viking is one of the 1950s-era motels that are common on Interstate Avenue, from the days when it was one of the main arterials for visitors to Portland from the north. It has been renovated and well-maintained, though, and is a good choice for people looking for reasonably-priced accommodation in north Portland. It is very close to a light rail stop, and also to bike lanes and bicycle-friendly streets.โ
โI liked the view, the walking trail right outside the hotel, the pool, and the staff. There were some areas where cleanliness seemed like it was not a priority, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. โ
โStaff were very friendly and made us feel like they knew us. Location is also great. Definitely would recommend this hotel and will be staying again! โ
โThe building is old, well cared for with rustic - with character. The bed was comfortable and the room had a small sink. Toilet and shower are communal and I found them to be very clean. There isn't a coffee maker in the room but they bring out coffee in the hallway. There is a wonderful bagel bakery on the same block with coffee if you need it earlier.
I'd definately stay here again but if you want all the usual comforts of a hotel, this is not the place. If you are flexible, it's a fun place...
