The Riviera Hotel was a very pleasant place to stay for 2 weeks. It is centrally located, easy access to MRT and the hotel has a shuttle to the MRT as well at specific times. Many good restaurants and a night market are in walking distance. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. The staff excellent, friendly, and cheerful. The breakfast which we had included with our rate was very good. Had only 1 issue and that was occasionally I could smell a slight musty odor just in the corner of the room but no where else and the smell didn’t travel into the room and it wasn’t all the time. It may have been that we were on the top floor and there is a roof garden? I sometimes smelled the same smell in the 7th floor seating area outside of the elevators. I never smelled it on the other floors. If I were to return to Taipei I would definitely stay there again but would ask for a different floor. We were very pleased with our choice to stay there. A side note, the pastry shop connected to the hotel is a great place to grab a latte and also their pineapple cakes make a perfect gift. They are packaged beautifully and taste so good. You can order and pick up right before you leave as they are fresh and are best eaten within 2 weeks.

スタッフの方は皆さん親切でした。ソフト面は全て良いのですが、客室のカビ臭、下水臭がひどく落ち着けませんでした。バスルームの扉を閉めてエアコンを送風にしてしばらくするとまだマシになりましたが、部屋がとても寒くなりました。 それと、部屋に備え付けのバスローブがボロボロ…。メンテナンスをもう少ししていただけるとよいかなと思います。台湾滞在中ホテル2軒利用しましたが、値段が高い分期待していたのに残念です。

The hotel was located in an area that was very easy to get to the mass transit. 2 train lines within in walking distance. The breakfast has an array of items to choose from. I did have to ask that the bacon be cooked more thoroughly and they had no problem accommodating my request. The doorman was always ready to offer an umbrella to take with you if there was rain in the forecast. That was a very pleasant surprise. The fitness center was another plus for this hotel, especially after that breakfast. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel to family, friends, and colleagues.

Property was fine but will use this space to comment on Expedia insurance policy. Be aware that if you purchase stay protection insurance it only works in extreme circumstances. I purchased insurance on a previous stay and rejected property couple days before checking in because I found it to be mediocre and in a poor location. This is not enough and money was lost. So insurance coverage by AIG is quite limited. But it’s a cash cow for these 2 corporations so it’s pushed aggressively.
