Top Torokko Huzukyo Station Hotel Reviews

The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji

10/10 Excellent

"Try he location was perfect for our family with 2 young kids. There is a large park with a playground directly adjacent to the hotel. The hotel is also close to several restaurants and the train station. We also liked that there is a Family Mart attached to the hotel where we could pick up food and snacks easily. I would 100% stay here again! It was wonderful!"

Randor Residence Kyoto Nijo Castle

8/10 Good

"This hotel feels like a youth hostel with its lack of personnel or lobby / space to hang out, but our room had enough space for a family of four, which even included two toilets, a table and sofa, although only two dining chairs. Advertised as "eco-friendly" for its lack of routine cleaning was a bit odd, as we had to take out our own rubbish, but overall, it was fine for our needs, which was to explore Kyoto. We liked the walking distance to local cafes, a grocery store, and to Nijo-jo Castle."

Kadensho, Arashiyama Onsen, Kyoto - Kyoritsu Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Can’t say enough about this place. Japanese traditions meet modern comforts. Spacious, clean rooms, a beautiful space, clean and spectacular baths. This place was breathtaking. We’ll be back again, and are recommending it to everyone!! Note that there are limited food options in the area, so either reserve with the onsite restaurant, bring some food in, or prepare to travel for some meals."

Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Karasuma

10/10 Excellent

"The Hotel is quiet and well placed, close to transport options. The hotel staff were helpful with any questions asked. The room was compact and well appointed with kettle and small fridge. Bathroom was shower over shub format. Very clean. Room was cleaned every 3rd day and fresh towels are available from the front desk. Guest laundry available, coin operated using ¥100 coins. Luggage transfer service (external providers) worked well with the hotel. The local area is quiet and a has many beautiful local lanes to walk around. There is a 7 Eleven (convenience store) a couple of minutes walk. It is a quick 5 minute walk to Shijō-Ōmiya Station, a well connected station to major shopping areas and areas of interest. There are many restaurants and major fast food chains close to this station. It is an easy 15 minutes walk to Nijō-jo Castle with its beautiful gardens, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can catch the historic Keifuku Randen Tram, to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest area, from the Shijō-Ōmiya station. The tram ride is about 20 minutes or so and was a lovely part of the journey to the bamboo forest which was fabulous."

Togetsutei

10/10 Excellent

"Honestly, there are not enough stars for this hotel. The staff is very friendly and kind, the rooms were clean with such an amazing view of the river, and the vibe was so soothing it was honestly hard to leave! The employees made us feel welcomed and spoke English well. The even let us barrow an umbrella when we went out while there was light rain. The best part was after a long day of walking, we enjoyed the nice private tub in our suite. So nice, me and my fiance used it everytime we came back from a walk lol If I could give it a score out of 10, id give it a 12/10."

KAYA Kyoto Nijo Castle

8/10 Good

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - it was very authentic Japanese style of beds on the floor which we found surprisingly comfortable. The only glitch, which I feel compelled to mention, is the 'smoking' area that is right at the entrance by the main door of the hotel. As soon as you enter the small corridor to walk towards Reception, the smell hits you! Other than that, the hotel was good, rooms were spacious and there were nice amenities supplied. Staff only had limited English, so communication was a little challenging. The hotel is not very centrally located so an Uber is needed to get into Kyoto - otherwise a short walk to the main street and catch one of many buses, at a fraction of the cost of an Uber. We would stay there again."

S-Peria Hotel Kyoto

8/10 Good

"I typically travel to Kyoto for sightseeing, and of course, delicious cuisine, so this review is based on those motives. Typically I choose a spot close to Kyoto Station as I like to hop on a train and visit all of the lovely spots that Kyoto has to offer, so I'm used to being in a location with a lot of easy access to transportation as well as food, and staying at S-Peria was a new experience for me. I'll list different criteria in case it helps with your travels. Location - Not bad. If we use Kyoto Station as the the Southernmost central location in Kyoto, then S-Peria would be on the West side of Kyoto. And it is a fairly short <10 ride to Kyoto station on the local JR train, or also a fairly short two stops to Nijo station. The line that runs through the station has just one track in either direction and is called San-nin. If you are traveling with a JR pass during your stay, your JR pass can be used to cover the costs of riding. The hotel is a very very short two short block walk to the Tambaguchi train station, but it's a definitely a non-touristy part of town and dining options are sparse, limited to a few so-so restaurants between 2-6 blocks away. It's great access if you want to go to Nijo Castle or to see the bamboo forest at Arashiyama (both on the San-nin line), but if you want go to the heart of old Kyoto (aka Gion 'ghee-ohn'), with the shops new and old, the temples and shrines, like Kinkaku-ji or Kiyomizu-dera, Heian, and more, those are all bundled up on the"
