“When I eventually managed to check in I found that my room smelt funny. The windows were open so I guessed that the smell may have come from the outside. There was no staff at the guest house for me to speak to. When I returned to the room after getting some food I found that the smell was coming from the damp mattress and the smell I believed was urine. I rung the contact number I had, but nobody answered. “Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The room and amenities could do with some updating, and the bathroom could have been cleaner. The walls are quite thin, so you can easily hear other guests coming and going, which may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper. On the positive side, the bed was clean and very comfortable, the English breakfast was lovely, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was also easy to find. There isn’t any on-site parking, but there’s a community car park...

“I was very disappointed with my stay. The hotel appears to be used by the council to house individuals with drug and alcohol issues, which created an uncomfortable and at times unsafe environment. There were visible burn marks on tables consistent with drug use, and noise levels were high at all hours of the day and night. Local businesses even confirmed this is an ongoing issue. Unfortunately, this made it impossible to relax or get proper rest, and I would not choose to stay here again.”
