Hampton Inn & Suites Alexandria Old Town Area South
6/10 Okay
"I had an issue with my stay due to Expedia booking the wrong type of room for me at this hotel. I requested a suite with 2 queen beds and received a suite with a king sized bed. Not enough room for me and my family. Next time I will book directly with the hotel. The hotel itself is ok. Our room faced the highway and there was a lot of noise unfortunately. "
"Breakfast was fabulous with many healthy options and the bar next door was charming! Trolley stop right up the street. Slept like a baby in those comfy sheets!!"
"Stayed there a night the room was so dirty. There was dust on all the surfaces and floor wasn’t property cleaned as well. The toilet flush was barely working and shower was soo slow too . Towels were dirty. Couldn’t sleep all night because of itchiness. Only good thing was that they had smart tv other than that it was awful."
"For the price it was fine. I am a single man traveling so I dont need much. It was much less than other options in the old town/carlyle area. Room was clean and desk guy was nice. Overall the property is old amd looks a bit run down. Again this is a budget option. I will probably stay there again.
The breakfast was limited. Just waffles and toast and some cereal.
Walked from Huntington metro. Took about 25 minutes. Doable for me but most probably wouldnt want to walk that far."
Residence Inn by Marriott Alexandria Old Town South at Carlyle
4/10 Poor
"My wife and I stayed here because it is close to family. Usually we stay at another hotel nearby but thought we would give the Marriott a try. We found the alternate day housekeeping annoying but tolerable. The breakfast was fair but suffered from an odd assortment of unusual items, explained by the staff as "variety." The water in our room was alternately very hot or ice cold. When hot we could run it about 10 minutes and it would get to a bath temperature. Likewise, when cold the water had to be run about 20 minutes to get warm enough for a bath. The hotel manager explained that was because we were on the sixth floor."
