Good stay and location. Rooms well kept and tidy. Some sewer smell from the bathroom (no traps?). Some noise the last night with revellers busting bottles and shouting till about 4:30am.

The best thing about NH City Center Amsterdam is of course the location. One thing you should pay attention is that as you see on their wesite picture there are several steps that may be too much for some people. I think they have another entrance but the main published address will take you to the stairs at the entrance. That didn't bother us that much but another issue that made our stay some how unpleasant was that they changed the room that I had reserved (not requested but actually a reserved room) AFTER the deadline for cancellation with full refund. I was travelling with my two adult sons. I had specifically selected the "Standard Triple" which based on the hotel descriptions and pictures is a room with THREE twin beds when I made the reservation AND also explained to them at the time of reservation that we need three separate beds. The hotel gave itself the liberty to change my room to a queen bed and a sofa. They informed me two hours AFTER the deadline for fully refundable cancelation. I found that unfair business practice. NH City Center did not deliver what I had reserved and paid for. At the time of the check in at the hotel I reminded the receptionist about my choice of room and she said "yes, I see you have requested a triple room" and pretended that was what we were getting. Again, the type of room was not a request, it was a RESERVATION.

We had a fantastic stay here. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcomed. Check-in was easy and the staff made us feel right at home. They were able to accommodate our request for a queen bed instead of two twins. The hotel is located in a great spot that let us easily walk to most of our destinations and was also conveniently located near transit stops when we needed to venture farther. Our room was quiet and well furnished with a great view of the canal and good amenities. We felt very safe in and around the hotel. We found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable There is a fully stocked pantry with self-checkout with snacks, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), toiletries, power adapters and cords, etc. The room was very spacious and didn't feel cramped at all. The AC worked great which was a welcome relief as we had been traveling during a heat wave and are from a Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and found it to be a great value for the price especially compared to other places we stayed on our trip. We'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others!

Black mold was found in our bathroom shower/tub (room 525). Staff from the hotel wanted medical information from my doctor in order to provide any type of resolution which is ridiculous and unacceptable. Despite providing photo evidence of the black mold, they are not doing anything about the situation and it has caused an exacerbation of respiratory issues. Disgusting

A very good stay, and I will recommend this hotel for its convenient location in the heart of tourist Amsterdam, and its mostly friendly staff. But the steep entry steps can be a barrier for those who can’t take very high steps, especially with luggage (there’s no doorman or assistance.) The rooms vary in size: ours was large and sunny, despite a view only of other buildings and rooftops. Our friends had taken a canal-view room, at a higher rate - and their room was indeed canal-view, but tiny. The breakfast buffet was generous and very good; it’s an option, if you like to have a hearty breakfast. Other amenities: in-room coffee and a mini-fridge. There is a fitness room in the basement, which we didn’t investigate.

We spent 3 days at this hotel and loved it. It was close to everything we had planned. The staff was helpful and kind. The hotel itself was beautiful. Only odd thing, there were no outlets in the bathroom or near the bed.
