"Excellent location for access to the train when going into Amsterdam and close to the main square and shopping. Issue we had is that they say they have A/C. The A/C was capped at 22 degrees and would shut off intermittently throughout the night so you would have to get up two or three times in the night to turn it back on. Staff told us it was fixed but it was never changed over the six days we were there. Ensure you ask about this otherwise hotel was great!!"
"Beautiful hotel, exactly like the pictures. Room was clean and bedsheets/towels changed regularly even without asking. Good soundproofing and loved the lighting.
Only things i can say is that the colour of the room was different from the booking pictures shown, but Im guessing they just have a lot of matching rooms in different colours and we got slightly unlucky here. Regardless, not an issue at all."
"Very clean. Staff were fantastic and very attentive. We did not have breakfast but did enjoy an evening
Meal- it did not disappoint. We didn’t see any families there so can’t comment, but there were children in the Restaurant with their families and they were well-behaved.We changed our room due it looking ‘tired’ and in need of some upgrading and warmth(we don’t mean heat). We were given another room without any quibbles and a free drinks Voucher. We felt very safe. Loved the Cafe style Bar/Patio area, where you could relax under the ambient lighting with heaters under the shades and cosy cushions to plonk your tired body on. We enjoyed a well earned drink after hours of walking our socks off, exploring many cobbled streets that had exciting shops/bars and many other delights. The Dutch were so friendly and I was impressed with the amount that spoke very good English. I’m sorry we couldn’t reciprocate with the Dutch Language! I would definitely visit the area again as we couldn’t fit it all in and what’s the point of rushing when you’re on a break, just means there’s a reason to go back! I found the general atmosphere calm, relaxed and nothing was too much trouble for the Staff. I would of liked to give a 5* rating but the “5th” star on my phone screen wouldn’t show as the print was too big and I couldn’t make it smaller to press number 5. Thank you Ambassador!"
"We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Zaandam.
It was easy walking distance to a large grocery store, which made it easy for grabbing a few necessities and also an easy walk to the train station.
Our room was very clean and our beds were very comfortable.
We had a personal issue that we needed to take care of, and the staff went out of their way to assist us.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again."
"We experienced an excellent 3 day break for 2. Nice clean room, friendly staff, dinner menu quite restricted but delicious - Chef's special a must. The hotel was perfect for visiting the area, inland or beach a bus drive away. Quiet surroundings in a fairly built up area but away from the bustle of Amsterdam. Reasonably priced for such a good quality hotel. Just note, when checking out you'll be hit with a "City Tax"
Worth asking what this will be when you arrive. Apart from that, all good."
Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Oude Gevangenis - Alkmaar
10/10 Excellent
"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"
