Warm, clean, simple room with compact bathroom, hairdryer, bedside table light and tea/coffee facilities. Good continental breakfast. Shaving light and USB ports not working in room 11, otherwise all good and would use again for very convenient overnight stay right opposite the railway station.

Nice hotel, conveniently located for the railway station. Friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere in the bar, especially with a singer performing on Saturday night. Roomy bedroom which was kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Thanks!

Great position near the station and the centre of town, generous sized room recently refurbished. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights that makes the accommodation noisy, not suitable for those who need an early night,

The Castle Hotel is an unpretentious independent hotel close to the train station in Berwick upon Tweed. It is in an atmospheric older building which was probably originally assembled from several attached buildings. The clientele was principally local, and the hotel had a genuine sense of place. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the Northumberland breakfast was very good. The location was an easy walk to the downtown and the historic waterfront.

I confess that I was a bit disappointed when I first arrived - but the room was big and well appointed with an updated bathroom, and changed my tune., it’s walking distance to everything in town. It wasn’t hot inside during the heat wave, hurrah! The building itself is a bit shabby but the room was great. Very noisy at night so bring earplugs. We were lucky to get a parking spot in the street in front, but the train station car park is the backup. Breakfast was basic continental fare and kept us going.

The hotel staff were friendly and a decent cooked breakfast (extra). The room was comfortable but wash hand basin in single room was tiny. Only 'on street' parking available.
