Cheap and cheerful
A convenient and budget stay after we were let down by Premier Inn. However a little lacking in staff, and a bar with no stock. We didn't stay for meals, simply an overnight sleep. Beds were comfortable enough.
Room a little tired, but clean, clean bedding and towels, lovely hot water for a shower, tv easy to work. Tea and coffee, for a budget stay would use this hotel again
As we first drove into car park exterior looked ok, walked through entrance, reception is facing you, booking in was easy and quick we were on second floor, decore was very dated been repainted over and over again. The room (228) standed room as we walked in the damp over powed us first thing we noticed was the condensation on the window, same condition decor as the hallway heaing was on and it was warm but you could tell it gets turned off until they get a booking for that room. The paint work on everything was sticky through long periods of standing empty, bed was comfy room over all was clean, found the reason for damp smell found the aftermath of a burst hot water pipe no attempt to clear it up.went into the bar for a drink before we went out, To be told its closed and looking at its not been open foe sometime

I had read the reviews so did know what to expect.
The hotel was very tired and worn. Bedroom smelled very strongly of bleach when I opened the door so knew it had been cleaned. Bedding and towels fresh, white and spotless.
I know why the comments about staff varied from unfriendly to smiley as it varied on which staff were on duty!
There was no food at all but the Dudley Arms around the corner did daily breakfast and carvery meals so that was extremely handy.

Check in was quick and easy.
I had booked a twin room but on arrival we only had 1 small cup, and 1 pillow on each bed, we were supplied with extras once I went to reception. When making tea we discovered we only had supplies for one each so went without before departure. Room was shabby with broken furniture but beds were comfortable and we had a good night sleep
Mattress springs stuck in you wafer thin pillows painted over sockets. Bathroom horrible. Restaurant closed down 4 years ago yet they have a bridal room? Looks like it was once a nice place. Outside dirty paint p peeling off weeds overtaken car park. Would not stay again. Staff were friendly though.
Big old Country House thats seen better days. Perfectly good for me passing through though and very clean. No food but Pub 200 yards away did an excellent carvery.Would certainly use again
Cheap stay, comfy beds, wish there were sockets near every bed. Quiet place. Recommend.

It was obviously a very good venue in days gone by. Now, it is more like a motel. However, it is a good budget accomodation with a good pub nearby for food and a good bus route. Himley itself, is very quaint and has some fantastic walks.
Hotel was okay and clean, no spare pillow in room, unpredictable temperatures from shower one second cold, one second scolding hot, bed was comfy enough, waites for around 10-15 for someone to check the bar area and rang receptionist bell so i could get a drink with no answer. But beat sleeping in the car
I simply wanted a room for the night having attended a funeral earlier. Check in and out was simple and the twin room was spacious and comfortable if a little dated. The bathroom was ok and I enjoyed a morning shower with good water pressure. Although there is no food offering the nearby pub offered well priced meals including an all day breakfast. Not a place for a romantic getaway but as a no frills value for money stay it was absolutely fine.
Just needed a last minute somewhere to get my head down before heading home. Sounded lovely on the website and it was cheap. There is a reason for that. VERY outdated! Lights hanging off the wall, cupboard doors falling off. Threadbare carpet and the most rickety bed I’ve ever seen. Clean enough though. You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
