Tortworth Court is a mixed bag, and my scores reflect that. In order of experience, front of house was efficient and friendly - 8/10. It would have been useful to have been asked if we had dinner plans on arrival - see below. The Leaf Spa - 9/10. Friendly, professional and the treatments were exceptional. The pool and sauna/steam room facilities are tired. Room - 6/10 at most. Adequate, but not particularly well designed or appointed. No large drawers, and only two coathangers in a double room is ridiculous. Everything was clean-ish but not sparkling. Again, the word would be "tired". The hotel was busy when we stayed, with a wedding party and a murder mystery weekend in full swing, but the feeling was that the staff really could not cope with so much happening at the same time. Table service in both the main restaurant and the bistro was patchy and at times more than a little random. When the food was good it was very good, but we sent the dessert back in the main restaurant for being inedible. No apology was offered, no attempt was made to find out why, but at least it was taken off the bill. 6/10 Overall the hotel has potential but it needs investment and a refurbishment, management with an eye for detail and some customer care training and attitude adjustment in some of the staff would not go amiss. Our stay was not 4 star standard by any stretch of the imagination and we will not be returning anytime soon.

We stayed for an extended weekend, and everything was perfect, from venue, rooms facilities to service … we stayed with our Dog and all the staff specially charlotte at the reception were extremely helpful, accommodating and friendly … No negative feedback at all … we ate in the Atrium Bar, the food, ambience and service was par- excellence. The garden around the hotel was beautiful and very peaceful. There is more than enough parking, will definitely be staying there again

Nice Stately home with gardens well looked after. There was a blockage in the bath whereby waste water as not draning. When it was reported, it took less that 10 minutes for a plumder to arrive and unplug it. Dislike:The regulator for the shower was almost impossible. With very minimal movement, the shower was either too hot or completely cold. On both ocassions that I did shower it took more that 10 minutes each time to get it right on both ocassions.

The main building is gorgeous, but our room was down a thousand corridors in a maze extension. The sink was blocked with a wrapper. The tea and coffee area hadn't been cleaned. It was too hot in the room. It took afes to get to reception each time. The extension has not been done very well or nicely. It needs bulldozing and rebuilding. It reminded me of 60s holiday camps.

Such a special building and gardens, wow wow wow! Also the staff were very nice, friendly, accommodating. We didn’t get the accessible twin room options we asked for, except ground floor, but fortunately it wasn’t essential. Parking was really convenient to the rooms and plentiful even though it was busy. The Atrium Bar (another beautiful space!) food was unfortunately average at best, the sharing nachos were especially basic and the pizzas were stodgy. Breakfast buffet was lovely, plentiful, piles of fresh fruit, freshly cut. All in all, we will be back to this special place but would hope there are plans to refurbish the bedrooms as they are tired.

We were deeply disappointed for the service Firstly we cannot check in until 18:40 when they check in time should be 15:00. We didn’t mind as we can drink at bar area and eat at restaurant .After checking in there is no towels in the room. We also were told swimming pool cannot be used . One the main reasons I booked this hotel for family holiday was for the indoor swimming pool. One of receptionists was particularly unprofessional and unpleasant . She raised the voice when I asked about the room and said the booking mistake should blame on Expedia. Maybe because there were too many wedding events in the hotel and they were short of stuff. Somehow it feels chaotic and noisy at late nights. It is such a shame.

The De Vere was an absolutely lovely old builfing . The gardens and grounds were just stunning . Loved that theyd kept the gardens in keeping with the house . Staff were friendly but professional . We would definitely stay again and reccomend. Our room was suite spacious with a comfy bed .I would just say that the bathroom really needed updating as very old fashioned ,but im guessing the expence is a large factor . Other than that we were very impressed with everything else .
