Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Dallas could be a breeze or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some handy travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and take a cardigan just in case you get chilly. Go for a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your luggage.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are numerous ways to reduce your risk. Wear compression tights or socks, drink lots of water often and get your legs and feet moving. Walk the aisles of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
