Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Clean, decent rooms, good location, friendly staff. As one of the less expensive motels in Chico, attracts young party people.I was kept awake by people next door.
Hands down the filthiest motel I've ever stayed in, and I'm a purveyor of cheap motels. 1) Moldy something under the microwave plate 2) Holes (cigarette burns?) in the sheets 3) Crazies blasting bass in their cars at 5am for 45 mins 4) luke warm shower 5) a tiny bar of soap, no shampoo 6) dust and dirt and grime on most surfaces. 7) Wifi network down and nobody at the front desk for hours after 10pm The key and heater worked at least.
Place was gross. Non smoking room had ciggerette holes on the blankets and blood. No extra blankets. Front desk was no help. Just stay at a motel 6 if your looking for cheap this place sucks.
The owners seemed nice. The linens had stains. The towels were thread bare. Stains on carpet. Large hole repair to bathroom door was pretty scetch. The price was good.
Property had broken down cars motorhomes in the parking lot weeds growing everywhere. The pool deck was gross. The website pictures definitely do not reflect the condition of this property.
Room looked like it did in the 70’s. The smell was
Horrendous.yom been sick and there was no way she could smell that for 2 nights, so we left and didn’t stay !!
Not sure why my wife chose to stay at this specific place, probably because of the name? We couldn’t sleep at night. The room and a musky smell to it, we didn’t undress because the sheets looked dirty. The heater was loud as a thunder and had a nasty smell coming from it. Since 5am people are loud, coming and going. Needs a remodel and new sheets to stay in business.
Room stunk, we had to buy air freshener to stomach it. The condenser on the a/c unit is going bad.
Having people who live there for their residence, being noisy, parking travel trailers right up near guest rooms is unappealing and a security hazard for traveling guests. Kinda gave an unsafe vibe and we took all our belongings with us while we were gone for the day.
Overall, the room was inexpensive and it’s a case of you get a place to crash while traveling.
This place was 10 steps below a dump, very dirty inside and out, sheets not changed, mattress have holes, floor sticky, trash all over outside, holes in the walls, smells of smoke, noisy tenants.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I did not like the permanent travel trailer in the parking lot next to my room. I did not like the dead roaches in the bathroom. Very little water pressure from the shower.
No pillow cases. One light. Floors felt sticky. Trains and planes ran by at 5am. Only got 1 towel for two people for three nights. Only got 2 loose sheets for blankets
Upon arriving to the Safari inn, the guy at the front desk was a nice guy. However, after checking in and getting my key card, I noticed a lot of sketchy looking characters outside Drinking and smoking in the parking lot. Not too worried, but after opening the door to the room at looking at the condition of the room I was in total disbelief. The mattress smelled and the blankets and sheets had holes and think black stains on them. I returned to the lobby to tell the guy at the front desk that I do not accept the room. I asked for a refund, because I did not accept the conditions of the room. The man at the front desk replied that I had to go through the 3rd party service to get my money back. I would not recommend this place to anybody. I think they were cutting a lot of corners and not a lot of quality control. But if you want to feel like you're in a 3rd world county, then go ahead and check it out.
It was so dirty. There was stains on all the sheets. There was black things in the bed i would wipe away and within 30 min would be back. I thought maybe bug poop even thoigh i didn't
see any bugs. Holes in the walls. Sitting out in the parking lot was a old camper with someone living in it. It was so bad my husband had me get a different room somewhere else for my 2nd night.
The room pictures in Expedia must have been a room they fixed up, because the room we were in was questionable on if it was clean (possibly makeup on the bedspread), in the bathroom paint was peeling off the wall in large section, there was black looking mold in the shower, and the knob for the hot water in the shower fell off (if one likes cold showers). To close the window in the bath one of us walk around to the back of the motel to push it close while the other one stood on the toilet to lock it. The lock for the front window was a 1x1. The black out curtains had multiply small rips through out.
the room was so dusty, the phone had no number to call. the staff was okay but it smelled a lot like their incense. there wss no toilet paper, i had to buy one. there wss few amenities but even then they were hard to open like the shampoo/conditioner. the air vent was sooo dusty and had crumbs in it. it activated my allergies badly. the bed had a few stains on it. also there was still a broken RV in front of our room. you could also see outside through the bottom of the door. there was no additional locks which felt s little scary.
