The Westin New Orleans

"My stay at The Westin New Orleans was overall a pleasant experience, but there were definitely a few areas that I feel need attention. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was extremely accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere of the hotel and the common areas were beautiful, and my first impression was very positive. However, once we got upstairs, I noticed that the carpet in the hallway had a somewhat dingy, soiled smell. I understand this is New Orleans and there is a lot of traffic in and out of hotels, but for a property of this caliber, I expected the hallways and carpeting to feel a little fresher. Once we entered our suite, the room itself smelled very stale and somewhat moldy. Unfortunately, we also found two cockroaches in the room. We immediately contacted the front desk, and I will give them credit for responding and sending someone upstairs to inspect the room. While looking around, we also noticed what appeared to be signs of previous water damage near the ceiling, including bulging around the crown molding. That, along with the stale/moldy smell, made me feel that the room could use a more thorough inspection and some additional maintenance. Overall, I would not say that my stay was bad. The staff was wonderful, the hotel itself is beautiful, and I appreciated how accommodating everyone was. My biggest concern was simply the condition of the suite.
