"My overall stay at the hotel was good, except for one major issue. I arrived around 12:00 PM, but check-in time is typically at 4:00 PM. The hotel receptionist informed me that my room was available; however, I could only check in early if I paid a $50 fee. I asked for clarification on the fee and was told it was for early check-in. Even though the room was ready and waiting for me, I couldn’t access it before 4:00 PM without paying this additional charge.
This practice feels like a scam. The hotel didn't have to pay anyone extra to prepare my room early, so why should I have to pay to enter the room a few hours sooner? Most reputable hotels allow you to check in early if your room is ready. It seems this hotel is simply trying to take advantage of travelers who arrive with luggage and don’t want to carry it around until check-in time. Because of this experience, I would not choose to stay at the Southernmost Beach Resort again."
