Arrived & they were going to rent us the room, despite it being nearly midnight (but before their deadline to checkin). We paid an additional $125 & they rented it to us. Got bite 10 times by a Mediterranean recluse spider (venomous). Would never stay here again, at $500/a night it was terrible."

"My mom and I really enjoyed our 2 day stay at Alla Fava hotel in Venice. Our flights were severely delayed and we ended up landing in Venice around 1am. After getting a taxi + water taxi out to the Rialto bridge, we found the hotel with little difficulty and used the code to let ourselves in. This was very convenient as many other hotels would not allow check-in after midnight. The location is very good, central to walk around as well as catch the local water bus. The room is nothing fancy, basically a bed and a bathroom with a window overlooking a minor canal. But if you're planning to spend your days out exploring and only in the room to sleep, I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. (Our weather was cool, so we didn't need to use the air conditioning. But there was a unit in the room.)"

"We booked a 6 guest apartment in the San Polo area that was supposed to be part of the Palazzo San Lucas. Extremely overpriced, ($600 per night). Poor maintenance, zero amenities, the TV remote was missing and no one came from the hotel to provide one once reported, It was a cold night and the heater did not work. It was not clean enough, although the bathrooms were clean, there were spider webs hanging from the ceiling at the living room and kitchen area. The painting on the wall was peeling off, the finishes were poor, the curtains old and not very well put together, the bed sheets provided were not thick and fluffed, It was also noisy, you could hear the neighbors flushing the toilette and walking. … everything about this place looked cheap. Not the experience we were expecting in Venice whatsoever. We trusted the wonderful reviews from Expedia, but in this case they were not accurate. So please pay attention to the room you’re booking, apparently they are not all at the same level and not in the same area. The images posted don’t match what we found at the hotel. This option was extremely disappointing and over priced. I wish we could get some type of compensation / refund, we felt completely scammed by the hotel. I don’t recommend, stay away from it."

"We stayed here for 3 nights in May as part of our Italian vacation. Location is good- quiet and outside of the super busy spots but close enough to walk where you want to go in a few minutes. The building is very old, but restored nicely and well maintained. Definitely old world and not modern. We were in the red room which was not our taste, but was clean and well appointed. Except the blow dryer which barely blew a warm breeze of air. Breakfast had a good variety and the staff were very responsive. Scrambled eggs were the best we had on our weeks long trip, but wished there was a made-to-order option for fried eggs. If there was, this wasn't communicated. Easy water taxi to the airport- though not cheap!"

"Nasty little man one morning at the desk. Older, sour. The rest of th time front was staffed by helpful professionals. Property is very old but well maintained. PLease note: the Amadeus is right on the main drag from the train station. These is howver, a nice little garden at the enter of the property. Very convenient if you're using Venice S. Maria station."
