“We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

“This place is stunning, simply put. They thought of everything - none of the details were missed. Hairdryer in room, spacious bathrooms and spotless rooms, lovely breakfast included. The views, flowers, sounds of birds and refreshing pool are what makes this a special place. Very close to train station in Regua, with lots of restaurants close by.”

El bar que tienen tiene todo tipo de bebidas y comidas riquísimas con una vista al río bella. Las toallas y las sábanas del cuarto están perfumadas. Tiene estacionamiento libre de costo dentro de la propiedad. Se respira paz. Tiene una piscina infinity y un jacuzzi que puedes reservar para usarlo en privado. Todo fue perfecto.”

“Way up on the mountainside with a beautiful view of the valley and the Douro River. Valeria is a wonderful host and the place is truly something special. The beds are super comfortable, the bathrooms fantastic and she thought of every detail. ”

“We had a comfortable room with a patio overlooking the Douro River. Staff very friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the window from the shower into the room. The botton 2/3 rds are translucent and upper 1/3 clear. If a light is turned on in bathroom bedroom is lit up as well . Also the obvious privacy issues. Other than the the room , hotel , staff, bar and restaurant are great.”

“Staff were fabulous, special thanks to Ana, Bruno and Rita. Hotel was nice but tired, needs some TLC. Hotel is good for 2 nights, as dinner menu only changes every other day. Breakfast was satisfactory. As the accommodation was listed as a “wine hotel” we were expecting wine tastings and a sommelier.”

“The staff here, aside from the lovely man in the dining room for breakfast , were minimalist at best. The front desk staff were well below par. The hotel is pretty basic and the town itself doesn’t have a lot to offer - look elsewhere for a Douro experience unless you want to see the church stairs.”

“Check in was great, with a welcome glass of Port. Breakfast was perfect every morning with plenty of options and very scenic views. Room was little dated and the area itself is secluded. If you’re looking for that, than this is the spot. The highlight of the trip in Douro was the wine tour about an hour away. Beautiful area beautiful resort. ”
