"The staff were excellent especially the young man who checked us in, served dinner and served at the bar. I didn’t sleep much at all the first night because of the very hard mattress but after I asked if we could have an extra duvet on the bed then the second night I slept much better. Breakfast was plentiful but the service was very slow. We had dinner here both evenings and it was ok but again the service was very slow. We would stay here again."

"Room was compact but comfortable, the bed especially comfortable. Best in room coffee ever! TV was impossible to sort out, HUGE but useless. A leak from toilet cabinet meant floor was wet most of the time, and was reported to manager, I'm sure it'll be fixed for next people. Pub is oozing with atmosphere, food is excellent. Staff are great. Somebody could pick up litter outside once in a while to improve the look."

"Staff were amazing. More warnings should be provided on the availability of the pool (as there are so many children’s lessons). Very hot and an ambient stale smell in common areas. Felt a bit like a care home for walkers. Breakfast was good. "

"Our room was small and basic, but it was alright for us as we just wanted somewhere to stay for the night. It was clean as was the bedding and en suite bathroom. There was the usual hot drinks and fresh milk provided by the bar staff. The staff were polite and friendly. The breakfast was very good (english cooked) and there was a choice of cereals, yoghurts etc. Secure parking is at the rear of the hotel and is included in the price and is accessed from a small narrow road around the corner from the hotel. Our room was on the third floor, so there was quite a few stairs to climb. There could be some improvement in accessing the car park when you arrive. You have to stop in front of the barrier, then get out of the car, go into the bar area of the hotel, wait for one of the bar staff to attend to you (they might be busy serving someone else), obtain a "token", then you go back to the car and put the token in a slot so the barrier goes up. At other places we have stayed at with a similar set up, you just press a button at the barrier and it goes up. The hotel is in a superb location, right in the town centre."

"The Hotel has a lot of character and is in a beautiful location in the Dales. We watched lambs playing in the field as we had breakfast. There are great walks on to the Dales or down to the river from the front door. The staff were very friendly, and we had a lovely restful stay."
