The Kunst im Tunnel is a contemporary art museum that lies in an intriguing underground location. It is beneath a picturesque bank of the Rhine River and is part of the larger Kunsthalle Düsseldorf art institution. Browse the modern works of art in the displays dotted around this subterranean area of 9,150 square feet (850 square meters).
Descend into the tunnel via the glass pavilion overlooking the Rhine River. Inspect the artworks to learn about the innovative and talented young artists. The tunnel has a clean and elegant layout, with a well-lit, white floor, ceiling and walls. It follows an elliptical arc and runs parallel to the river for 460 feet (140 meters).
Gaze at the unusual forms and shapes that make up some of these contemporary works. Consider the symbolic and societal messages behind the pieces. The exhibitions are temporary, offering fresh glimpses into the minds of young artists every few months. Admire the displays of sculpture, painting, photography and video art.
