“Evening menu poor. Breakfast fine when eventually received but waited half an hour after giving order for just two eggs and hash browns. Two tables that had arrived after us were served and left the room before us. Beautiful hotel and staff in every respect but food let it down most unfortunately”
“The staff are very helpful and parking behind pub very good. . Food to a high standard. Room was very comfortable with a large shower as requested. I am unable to use a bath so requested a shower due to my lack of mobility. The room had tea and coffee facilities and towels, robes and slippers BUT the bed, although comfortable, was extremely low. Apparently all the beds are the same height according to a member of staff. It caused a real problem in the night as I had to wake my husband twice...
“Being from the hospitality industry, I am not easily wowed but I have to say, the staff and service was wonderful, genuine and warm. Clean rooms, comfy beds, all expected amenities working and I enjoyed a delicious dinner in the restaurant. I stay here whenever I'm in the area as there's always a warm welcome.”
“We were in an annex, not in the main hotel. The room was clean, but the space was very small with the 'bedroom' on a mezzanine floor. The roof sloped so much it was difficult not to crack your head on the ceiling. The bed was a small double. The towels were old and must have been washed using conditioner as they did not dry you after a shower. There was a beer festival on the weekend we stayed and the volume of the music outside was exceptionally loud and even inside the annex with the door and...
“A very cute place to stay in a lovely market town.
Parking nearby (free on Sundays and overnight).
Access to the rooms, due to the nature of the historic building, is not the easiest (uneven floors, narrow corridors and stairs). The room was absolutely lovely though; the bed was comfortable with quality bedlinen and pillows.
The breakfast buffet was welcome - a small table and chair would have been welcome.
A bedside light would have been welcome too.
With it being such an old building,...
“The hotel was lovely, and the swimming pools amazing!
The staff were lovely and friendly and really helpful.
However, the rooms do not have air conditioning and become very hot when you can only open a small window. They did supply a fan, but it was still very hot.
Breakfast really wasn't very good. The two nights we were their the breakfast was stone cold one day and luke warm the next, and the scrambled egg was like rubber!
Other than the food the room was lovely and as the say the swimming...
“Great location and large clean room. Very disappointing breakfast at the George though. Waited 20 minutes for a very unappealing looking plate of food and a bizarre set up. Sticky tables in breakfast room too. Staff were lovely though.”
“A good hotel with clean comfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Evening restaurant meals were okay with a pretty "standard" menu with an odd approach of staggering restaurant sittings for larger groups. The location is somewhat out of the way which makes getting there a little difficult without a car. Rooms do not have air conditioning and do not come with a fridge which I would have expected given the prices for rooms. I would stay again if visiting the area...
“There is no restraunt at this pub even though there is a nice picture of the dining area. Had the attic room and kept awake all night by birds in the loft.”
“The Ferryboat Inn is an old establishment that I last visited ten years ago. It has been sympathetically refurbished keep a lot of the original features but adding a new bar in place of the old conservatory. I was very impressed with all the changes.”
“Great 2 night working trip. We had 2 rooms. My room 17 faced east and was large and airy with a comfortable feel. Large bed and nice pillows.
The bar area is very pleasant with a good range of food+drinks.
A good all-rounder and I'd stay again.
Free parking is useful.”
“No checking in service at all. No prior instructions were given. We were helped into our apartment by the lady who owns the jewellers downstairs. We were woken at 6.45am on a Sunday to the sound of scaffolders and a traffic management company setting up to commence install scaffolding at 7am on the building we are in with no prior communication from the host this would be happening otherwise I wouldn't have booked there. By 8am there was a workman outside my first floor bedroom window so I had...
