Old fashioned Japanese hotel, but clean environment.
Free coffee on arrival and light breakfast was offered.
Open air onsen was very nice
Only issue was, there was no toilet inside the room which things a bit interesting at night when the human nature was calling.
Otherwise lovely hotel with friendly staff

Excellent traditional experience, onsen is great and the traditional food sets (both breakfast and dinner) are very nice.
Only problems I had overall were maintaince going on during my stay (landscaping and some light building work), and some parts of the building are showing their age (especially in the onsen and lobby areas).
Bonus note, some of the hole in the wall restaurants nearby are excellent and the rual area nearby is great for a break from the big cities (it has that fresh air countryside feel).

Everything was great, staff friendly. The only issue was immediately following the booking of our reservation, we received an email from the hotel stating that renovation was going on and the view from our room would be blocked due to the scaffolding. This was the case, but it was not a big deal. ...
