"Room was dirty with creepy crawlers and mold. TV reception was poor. And when I asked for a bar of soap I was told there was no soap to be had. The second night there was woken up at 4:30 AM by loud pounding. Someone was nearby trying to break into a room near mine with a hammer and crowbar. I had to call the cops."

"I knew that I wouldn’t be at the hotel in time for check-in. I called the hotel two weeks prior to inform them of this. I was told that this would not be a problem and that it would be notated in the account. About a week after that, I informed them that the card on file was lost and asked how I would be able to put another card on file. No one responded to my inquiry. On the day of my arrival, May 8, 2026, I began driving to Norfolk, Virginia from Southampton, Long Island. Over 8 hours. I arrived on the property to no one in the lobby. There wasn’t a bell or any kind of way to call for a receptionist. After 15 minutes, a woman who worked the front desk emerged with a small man looking as though they’d been enjoying the night pretty thoroughly. She looked disheveled and unkempt. When she saw that my daughters and I were standing there she immediately looked annoyed. She asked me if I was checking in with a very rude demeanor. I answered yes. She then asked me what my last name was. She asked those two questions while still making her way around the counter. I told her my last name. She answered “What?” with attitude along with a neck roll and rolling her eyes. I yelled my last name back. Her little man of a boyfriend or fling chuckled behind me. She went on to say that my reservation was cancelled and my room given away. She did not see any notes that I would arrive late and no message about my card. I will never book a stay at the Residence Norfolk Airport, again. "

"US hotel breakfasts are dreadful but I expected better from this chain. Processed fats and sugars, even the bread. It was as dire as the next hotel and should buy better local produce, but they won't. Room was big and airy and quiet and clean and comfortable! Staff were mostly average and could have been more welcoming "

"Loved the view of the ocean from the balcony. Easy access to the beach. Fantastic outdoor pool. The Breakfast buffet was top notch. The staff at check in was super nice. I can't recommend any higher. I had a great experience."

"The hotel itself is generally fine, however excluding 1 staff member (Latina girl with an accent, apologies I meant to get her name, she’s great) the rest of the ladies at the desk are both unhelpful & rude. They spend their entire shifts staring at an iPad with AirPods in & act as if you’ve done them a disservice anytime you approach & they actually have to do their “job”. Nobody says hello, they can barely even manage eye contact, it’s a truly pathetic display of customer service as well as just general human decency/social understanding. You genuinely would get 10x the humanity out of ChatGPT comparatively. I was told one thing by a staff member, then I would go down later, that person is gone, and I get a completely different answer from the next person. There is very obviously no consistency in their operation."
