"This was an extremely affordable place to suit our last-minute decision to stay in Koshigoe. The room was great, everything was pretty basic but for the price we paid it was more than enough. The owners were wonderful despite our very limited Japanese and even gifted us some postcards on departure! "Beautiful rooms and property. The size of the rooms were fantastic. We had a wonderful stay! I only deducted a star because there’s no room service and some of the vending machines are inside the onsen area, so they aren’t accessible by both men and women on particular days. Also be aware that only one onsen has a Mountain View, and it may not be your day to use it if you’re a man or woman,"

"Great old time hotel. Beautiful garden. Were large room well appointed. It is so good to be able to open a window. Good size (like full) 2 beds, excellent mattress. Bathroom is great even by Japanese standards. Spa treatments definitely a plus. Terrific stuff, competent and eager to help. Restaurant was ok. Bus stop was across the street."

"I highly recommend Hotel Nanpuso to anyone visiting Hakone. What made our stay memorable wasn’t just the beautiful hotel or Japanese hospitality, but the incredible people who went above and beyond to take care of us. We arrived around 8 PM after a 14-hour flight and a four-hour transfer. Despite our late arrival, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a full kaiseki dinner for us so we wouldn’t miss out on this wonderful Japanese dining experience. The following morning, our Klook tour plans nearly fell apart when our Uber never showed up. We were at risk of missing our scheduled tour, but the front desk staff immediately stepped in. They contacted the tour company, coordinated with our guide and driver, and helped arrange a taxi. The tour bus even waited approximately 20 minutes for us! What impressed me most was that they didn’t simply offer an apology or tell us it wasn’t their responsibility. They took ownership, made calls, coordinated everything, and genuinely cared about helping us. This is what exceptional hospitality looks like. Five stars for the hotel, and an extra five for the wonderful people who work there. Thank you for making our Hakone stay so special. We will remember your kindness!"

"I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in the Hakone area. The staff is beyond kind, amazing buffet/food, very clean, beautiful and spacious rooms! I hope I get to stay here again. They have a shuttle from Odawara station to the hotel. The only downside is it’s not directly IN Hakone, but it was convenient enough to get around with the shuttle service. The staff was so welcoming and kind. Can’t wait to stay here again!"
