“What a gem! Met up there for an overnight stay with friends. Great location and ideally situated for walking.
Our rooms were in the main building. They were spacious and well-equipped with tea/coffee making, proper milk and snacks. The beds were also very comfy and the en suite had a great shower.
We ate there for lunch and dinner- good menu and excellent, tasty options, with great selection of gins and wine. However what really made our stay, and will guarantee a return visit, was the warm...
“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here overall, but the experience was bookended by two entirely different worlds.
Check-in on the afternoon of 18 August was an absolute breeze—the receptionist who assisted me was a proper professional, welcoming and efficient, setting a cracking first impression.
Unfortunately, check-out on the morning of 19 August (around 10:00 a.m.) was an absolute shambles that completely derailed an otherwise brilliant stay, courtesy of the two older reception staff....
“We stayed here for one night whilst walking the Sandstone Trail. It is just off the trail (about 0.5km). It is a beautiful hotel with amazing views. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was included and was delicious. We also dined in the evening and the food was lovely. Highly recommended.”
“This hotel is in a very old Tudor style building with heaps of charm and quirkiness. This is a popular and busy pub/restaurant/hotel. Our room was on the top floor with access by stairs with high risers. The double bedroom was small with only one bedside table and no cupboards and only one stool so it is best suited to a one night stay. The room was clean and tidy with again the charm of an uneven floor which is not a problem just be aware. As the room is close to the roof it can get very warm...
“Staff very friendly, helpful and attentive.
Quaint Victorian surroundings created the feel of a bygone aristocratic era.
Minutes from train station and local shops & amenities.
I felt safe and confident as a solo female traveler.
Excellent value for money.”
“Beautiful location - was perfect for us attending Forest Live at Delamere Forest. Lovely room - spacious and clean. Breakfast was perfect & the owners so friendly. Would definitely return & recommend to others.”
“I liked the easy access from the motorways near Chester & the co-location of service station EV chargers or the option of using your own cable for slow 13A overnight charging for a modest fee payable to the hotel. It was very quiet- I did not notice any noise at night from the service station. All room amenities were in good order. Breakfast was good value but fairly basic. Croissants were an unexpected option. My only dislike was that there were no meal options except breakfast when I stayed....
