“I booked 2 rooms, both of which were excellent, very clean and beautifully furnished, recently fitted bathrooms with excellent facilities. The staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming, they made us feel very comfortable in the beautiful location. We really enjoyed our pre dinner drinks by the open fire in the guests lounge and learning about the history as we explored the building. Delicious food, we met the chef who checked our exact needs. We could not find any faults at all with our stay...

“Arrived at the hotel, which to their credit allowed us to check in early as we had to get to a wedding before their usual check-in time. Unfortunately the room was absolutely freezing - we thought the heating might be off, but it was actually on. As we were in a rush we turned the heater up and left for the day. We got back late at night to find the room still extremely cold. As the reception building was closed, and we’d previously been told that the hotel was fully booked, we handed the key in...

“Check in was quick. Room was dated but clean and tidy. Gym was adequate. However, I barely slept. The room was ridiculously warm, even with the windows open. The walls were paper thin so I could hear everything in the neighbouring rooms. The hotel is on a main road so the traffic noise was loud with the window open. ”

“We recently stayed at this lovely cottage in Carlisle with my two children and had an amazing time. The place was spotless, cosy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage had a lovely big garden with beautiful views, and there were some great walks nearby which we all enjoyed. The host was welcoming and made sure everything was just right. We would definitely love to return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!”

“Had a great stay. Alison was a gracious host. She made reservations for us to eat dinner at a tasty restaurant nearby after we arrived late in the evening for our check in. And she even woke up early to have breakfast ready for us as we needed to head out early for the next part of our trip, even though we assured her we could just go without. Our room was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Definitely recommend. ”

“Upon checking in was greeted by an unfriendly team member who was not welcoming. There is no lift in this hotel so we had to take our luggage down stairs and then upstairs which was horribly inconvenient. The room was ok but with no air conditioning it was much hotter inside than it was outside. There was a fan in the room that could have been turned on for us but wasn’t. There was only one towel in the bathroom, so my husband and I had to share as when we realized it was too late to request...
