The staff was amazing! Henry at the excellence bar, Adrian at the Gusto restaurant and Mary at the sunset swim up bar were all fantastic! The rooms were cleaned every day. From everyone at the welcome desk that unloaded our luggage to the gentleman that showed us around the resort to all the workers on the beach they were all accommodating.

First of all, the resort is impeccably maintained and the staff could not be friendlier! You can tell they love their jobs and their island. We stayed at the Excellence Club, and the pool and beach area were beautiful and spacious. The restaurants on the other side where the families stayed was of course more loud and bustling. The restaurants can be very noisy before 8 pm when the children are dining but there are a couple of adult only options. One is Dommo which is only accessible to Excellence Club guests. I must admit as a cook and a foodie we were disappointed in the food. The amount of dining opportunities is huge with eleven restaurants and some wonderful menus, but the food quality just didn’t do it for us. Even with that said though, the resort was amazing and the value was great.

Misleading Listing & Very Disappointing Stay I booked this trip through Expedia for Thanksgiving believing I was reserving The Excellence Resort in Punta Cana. The listing was extremely misleading, and I later discovered the reservation was actually for The Excellence Club at Finest Punta Cana, a completely different property. Because of this, I read the wrong reviews. Had I seen the reviews for Finest, I would not have booked. My main requirement was an adults-only, no-children environment. This was a child-free vacation for me. Expedia’s listing implied this, especially in the Excellence Club section, but the reality was the opposite. Children were everywhere—near the restaurants, pool, and bar. Even the adults-only areas were within earshot of family spaces. This is not the experience I paid for. The food quality was also extremely poor. Much of it was cold or undercooked, and I watched spills (including a dropped egg) sit on the floor for over 45 minutes without being cleaned until we asked. Staff were polite but scripted, and very little could be resolved. Yes, this was a “deal,” but so was the hotel I thought I booked. I would not book through Expedia again like this because I no longer trust that the listing accurately reflects the property. I will also be sharing my experience directly with the resort and on Yelp and social platforms so others are not misled.

The food was inconsistent and served cold most times unless it was cooked in front of you. Shrimp was not deveined at Dommo. The food at Lizo was the same as the food at the kids section of the buffet as is the room service. The room was very nice and 99% of the staff are wonderful. We were in love with the resort for the first few days but then the cracks began to show. We have stayed at Excellence Punta Cana and Excellence El Carmen and right now we do not think we would return to Finest.

We had the excellence club Junior suite with the swimming pool. It was top-tier, gorgeous views, excellent staff everyone was super helpful. It was very quiet and relaxing the restaurants specifically soji was so good. I will definitely be back.

The room and pool was small for the price, we asked for an upgrade but was denied. No ocean view and our room had a construction access road with trucks and tractors running all day, couldn't relax and enjoy the pool. We had the 2 story beachfront suite, but there was a large balcony with a pool underneath us that extended really far out. So you can look down and see everything. People would come out there and smoke, a lot. That made it impossible for us to enjoy our own outdoor space. Room itself needs a lot of noise protection. We could hear every footstep, every conversation, and every noise from the hotel staff outside our door. The resort itself was well cared for, but staff was not friendly at all. There were a few exceptions, but most would t even say hi or smile. Excellence club pool needs some serious cleaning. There was debris and bird poop floating around every day. Overall, for how much the resort costs, it definitely does not live up to a supposed 5 star rating. Food was mediocre at best. “Club” service was very lacking in service. This is my 4th time coming to DR and this was the most expensive resort I’ve stayed at, but it was the worst experience I’ve had.

This resort is a gem. 💎 The aesthetics, the spa, the Japanese interactive restaurant, the room, the staff were all a delight and a pleasure to be around. The only slight downside was the beach is non existent. I don’t care for beaches so didn’t bother me. And sadly, the only thing that didn’t work for us was the food. Food can truly be the make it or break it of a trip.. and as much as most of the food was bad and we got sick, I still gave a good rating cause we did enjoy everything else on empty stomach most days. There was also one restaurant that the food was great!! The Japanese. If we knew we would have booked that one all night! And ohhh come with proper shoes and sandals as most if not all the restaurants require that. That “one spa” was phenomenal!! The whole team at Finest - Excellence Club: Top notch! We loved our stay and appreciated them.
