We visited Sanquhar for a short break and chose to stay at the Nithsdale Hotel for two nights, having previously stopped in for a meal. Our stay fully lived up to expectations. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and we were impressed by the restaurant. We also felt very welcomed at the bar, which even has its own separate pool table—a nice touch. Our ground-floor room was comfortable and well-appointed, with a cozy bed and en-suite facilities that made our stay even more enjoyable.

The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with our allocated room. Service in the restaurant was great, and staff very friendly. They also helped to ensure that we had an early breakfast to allow us to get walking early in the day. We enjoyed our stay here.

Convenient for Dumfries House

Hotel was very clean and tidy throughout, staff were exceptionally helpful and the food was good. Outdoor area at rear was 'functional' but not appealing and the car park could do with a lot of attention.

Quality Room.

Public car park opposite was free and accessible. Did not try Hotel car park as reported issues with neighbours building works. Lovely room with quality fittings ad superb bathroom. A few 'hidden' single steps throughout including the room which were interesting but you soon became aware of. Breakfast was fine but cooked breakfast (which was excellent) was a little slow especially as we were the only customers in at the time. Porrige would have been a nice option but not on the menu.

This was a wonderful play to stay. We had been travelling for a long time and arrived at the hotel late. The staff were extremely accommodating including the kitchen staying open later for us, without question. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations so that’s why I ranked that bit 1 point lower. In saying that the workers were lovely too, trying to be as accommodating as possible In trying conditions as it was pouring with rain

Everything was quite nice in the room, clean, comfy bed and pillows. Our only complaint was how you had to enter the hotel from the parking lot .. carrying your luggage through front entrance, through the resturant and through 4 doors, up the narrow stairs was a bit inconvenient for 2 seniors. The resturant dinner was very tasty by on the skimpish side.
