This place was the perfect place for solitude and family connection. The little cabin was efficient and perfectly appointed. It felt secluded, but it was just a short drive to Seward, which is fun and vibrant. I almost cried when we left and I vow to return one day. Side note: there was mention in the description of no cell service unless you have Verizon, but our Spectrum service there worked perfectly—even though you should not want to be on a phone in such a special place.

This was the cleanest, most well-maintained cabin we’ve ever been to. There were so many creative, beautiful touches to the cabin and the whole campground. The cabin was well equipped for everything we needed (2 adults, 3 teens) with a gorgeous view. There is nothing I wld have changed or added!!

Lovely stay in nature

We absolutely loved our stay. The property is immersed in nature, close but far enough from Seward. The cabins are basic but this is really the point. The highlight of our stay was surely the friendliness of Gary (the manager/owner) and even his friends. A true pearl, a true local stay. Kids loved it too! The only place we stayed in Alaska that had its own playground, close to the lake. No small feat!

We are so glad we stayed at Renfro’s! It is a great “unplugged” space where we got a lot of quality family time. There are books and games available in the office, as well as kayaks and paddle boats. Our kids really enjoyed exploring at the beach, playing in the cabin loft, and swinging in the hammock. The cabin was comfortable for our family of 5. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. We would absolutely stay here again!

Stayed in a lakeside cabin with an absolutely stunning view. Every little detail couldn’t have been any better! The lack of Wi-Fi and tv at the cabin was a plus. The grounds were immaculate and the location was amazing! About 20 minutes from Seward. We’re here for four nites at it was very relaxing. Gary is a great host!

Beautiful area. Quaint cabins. Super clean. Gary was a wonderful host Wi-Fi does not exist in the cabins but is available at the check in cabin. Would not have been a big deal on vacation but a little challenging when traveling for business. Remote area so no TV.

If you want to get away from it all, Renfros is the place to go. There is no WIFI or phone service unless you go to the lodge. Make sure you take your own provisions such as salt pepper etc. The fridge is very small and the freezer will not actually keep things frozen. Seward is not far for supplies. There is plenty of hiking and things to see in the aeea..

If you’re headed to Seward this is the absolute best place to stay. I am absolutely in love with this quiet remote place. It is nicely tucked away in the middle of the woods. The owner Gary is usually in the office when you enter. He is warm, informative and extremely pleasant to deal with. He had two assistants that were equally as pleasant and helpful. The cabins were well stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. The place was safe, well kept and just a dream get away for anyone who desire a nice remote and homely stay. There is no wifi in most of the cabin areas but we used that as a mental break from screens and an opportunity to focus on the nature in front of us. The mountains and lake was within 5 minutes walk from our cabin. Kayaking is available on the premises. My husband who is an avid New Yorker and started off reluctant fell in love with this place and is looking forward to another visit. There was absolutely nothing negative I could say about this place. Thanks Gary for allowing us a little slice of your world.

Renovated, cozy cabin in the woods

We stayed the beginning of Sept. The cabin we rented was " Premium Cabin, 2 Queen Beds, Kitchen, Mountainside". It was recently renovated, cozy and clean. The cabin has a mini frig, Keurig maker & variety of coffees, hot cocoa, etc. Good quality pans for cooking. The cabin had a charcoal grill and a fire pit. The host Gary has charcoal and fire wood for sale at the office which is very convenient. Guests have use of the kayak and paddle boat. The property is wooded but a great view of the lake by the beach area that is in walking distance to the cabin. Gary is very nice and helpful. We were able to get a discount on the fjords trip in Seward if we booked through him. Bed was comfy and bathroom was nice. The Alaska railroad train does go though the property and that was cool to see. Wifi is only available at the office but you can take your time sitting at the table to use the internet on your device. We would definitely stay again.

The cabin was spectacular!! Everything looked brand new in the cabin. Renfro obviosly takes pride in the accomidations, and pays attention to the details. I will be staying at the cabins again next summer. Great Bargain compared to other places in the area.

The host of this property was extremely helpful to us. We could not stay at his property because of an accident. The host went out of his way to find us an alternative property in town and covered the difference in price! He made sure that his guests are taken care of. I am very grateful.

This place had the perfect cabin feel. Unfortunately we were not alone. There were definitely noisy unwanted roommates in the ceiling, fortunately the roof was nicely sealed from the living area. However seemed ironic that we had to pay a pet fee for our little dog when there were animals living there rent free.
