Beautiful old hotel with a spectacular view of the Bund, the river, and the Shanghai financial district skyline. The room is spacious and tastefully decorated; however, it is a bit outdated. The bed in our room is uncomfortable and worn out. Very friendly and professional staff. The doorman, bellhops, and elevator attendant's uniforms look excellent.

Happy stay

Good location by the Suzhou river, walking distance to the Huangpu River bank to see the oriental Pearl Tower with the tall buildings in Huangpu district, also close to the Nanjing Road. Great service from the reception to the room, twice room cleaning a day. Strongly recommended.

Exceptional customer service. We were checking in late so I tried to ask for a room with good view and newer condition. The staff at reception gave us upgrade into executive suite with excellent lake view, beautiful room and plenty of space. Overall customer service is excellent. The restaurant in the building serve great food. Will come back again.

Great location and view of Shanghai night lights.

Good location at the end of the Bunds. River view is great if room is in the mid or right section of the building facing towards the city night lights. Staff understand some English. Walk to the Yuyang old street and Yu garden is about 20mins.

It's nice location and views. Historic and cultural. Walkable to north Bund. Most staff are very nice. This our third times stay in this hotel. But would be back again. First day checking the room has some smoking smell. 2nd day front desk gave us changed room. It's great.

This hotel is a historic landmark but is in need of a renovation. Although the room was spacious it had an odd layout and was slightly run down. Carpet is worn down and the room had an odd smell. The bathroom was clean and spacious but wasn’t that usable due to strange design and maintenance issues. The staff was good and the afternoon tea was nice with a good selection of cakes and savoury snacks. Location is good but will require some walking time to get to a metro or convenience store.

Great location. Only 1 elevator was working when I stayed, which had to be shared with apparently half of China. The staff were nice. The wifi was substandard. I was probably the only other Westerner/non-Chinese, but most staff could speak some English. It was indeed clean and the room was pretty spacious.

I had a really lovely four night stay at Shanghai Mansion on the Bund. It’s a fabulous property with a great atmosphere, and the rooms are extremely comfortable and well put together. The staff were excellent throughout, genuinely friendly and always helpful, which made a big difference to the overall experience. The location is absolutely phenomenal. You’re right on the Bund, and the classic Shanghai skyline looking across to Pudong is literally right outside the door. It’s hard to beat and makes the whole stay feel a bit special. One of the highlights was the breakfast. It’s very high quality, with a wide and varied selection that changes daily, so it never feels repetitive. It was something I actually looked forward to each morning. There are just a couple of small things worth noting. The beds are very firm, even for someone like me who normally prefers a firmer mattress, so that may not suit everyone. Also, the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working properly during my stay. It wasn’t a major issue given the cooler weather, but it could matter more at a different time of year. Overall, though, a wonderful stay and I’d happily return.
