"Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. "Quiet and older onsen by the river and train tracks in Gero onsen town. A shuttle service is providing certain hours, but we opted to walk to the resort from the train station. After a hot bath I recommend having a nice cold milk from the vending machines. Staff was friendly, room was clean, and it was fun to try the dinner/breakfast. Some instructions and info on how and what we were eating would have been nice but not knowing is a fun part of that experience! Thank you for having us!"

"The property is slightly dated & the style of the rooms in the main block were old. However its public bath/ hotspring (i.e. onsen) were newly decorated & very roomy / well-lighted. It would be perfect if the rooms are facing the river which is the major HIGHLIGHT of the Gero township. "The hostel is conveniently located near the train station. It is fine, but I found the bed was a bit uncomfortable. There were gaps between the boards under the bed, so for a side sleeper, you either have your hip/shoulder on hard wood, or completely unsupported. Lockers for valuables provided, but no lockers for big luggage. Other than that it was fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again."
