The tree is 7’x 7’ entrance- I chickened out of actually driving through because the angle seemed risky. They had a bunch of other cool things on the property to take photos with.

Drive through CAR didn't happen as paved road near the tree is broken

The tree is dead and split in two, held up by cables.  If you want to see it, just walk in.  It's not worth paying to drive in.

Rockefeller to visit, who was impressed enough to help the state of California buy this particularly thick stand of the world's tallest trees from the logging company that owned it. These trees live so long because, for one thing, they can withstand millennia of fires. Their lower bark is thick and has little pitch, and the nearest needles can be hundreds of feet up in the air where fire can't reach them!
