Takeflight on the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach and enjoy unbeatable views of the city andgreater South Carolina coastline from one of 42 air-conditioned gondolas. TheSkyWheel is one of the main attractions on the city’s 1.2-mile (1.9-kilometer)long Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade. 

Thewheel is 187 feet (57 meters) tall at its highest point and makes threerotations during each 10-12 minute ride, offering plenty of time to captureperfect photographs. Up to six people can fit in one gondola. If you wish totravel privately in smaller numbers, that can also be arranged upon request.

For an extra-specialexperience, skip the line and buy tickets for the VIP Gondola. It has glassfloors, leather seats and six rotations instead of the usual three. A souvenirT-shirt is also included in the VIP package.

TheSkyWheel is always a striking feature on the city skyline but it’s at its mostspectacular after dark. More than 1 million colored LED lights fitted to thestructure pulse for a nightly light show.

Afterdismounting, head to the adjacent LandShark Bar & Grille, one of threeMyrtle Beach restaurants owned by musician Jimmy Buffett. The spaciousrestaurant is on the oceanfront, so you’ll enjoy the sea breezes and waterviews, plus a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Head to the bar and try Buffett’ssignature beer Landshark Lager or one of several signature cocktails. There areplenty of other drinking and dining options within walking distance in bothdirections along North Ocean Boulevard.

The picture from the Skywheel camera man is on our respective refrigerators from our family tour group. Surrounding area is kinda dismal. Only that strip of road where the Skywheel sits is nice. A couple blocks in and it is open dumpsters and empty parking lots with pot heads.
