“This hotel is in a beautiful location, between the St, Mary's and Potomac rivers, on a narrow strip of land. Sunrise and sunset over the water are both spectacular. The rooms are very comfortable, and could probably use an upgrade at some point, but the rates are so affordable that this is a great and inexpensive getaway. The Ruddy Duck restaurant and bar next door is also delightful and reasonably priced. This hotel is perfect for a weekend getaway less than 2 hours from DC!”

“Everything about the Swanendele Inn was exceptional: the location, the accommodations, the facilities, the decor, the hosts, and, not least, the breakfast. In fact, you could spend several days just exploring the remarkable antiques and artifacts around the place. However, what made the strongest impression was the fiery glow of dawn though the pine trees outside our balcony every morning in the Margeret Brent suite. Rhododaktylos, "The rosy-fingered dawn": I never understood the true meaning...
