In winter, spring, summer or fall, visit this remarkable Idaho valley for exciting sun or snow sports or quiet mountain escapes.

Sun Valley offers rewarding family-friendly experiences year-round. Pursue outdoor activities from spring through fall in the beautiful sun-drenched mountain setting. Come in winter to test your skills on world-renowned ski slopes.

Follow endless hiking trails to see spring wildflowers, appreciate summer shade or photograph fall foliage as you breathe fresh mountain air. Ride the gondola to the top of Bald Mountain to watch paragliders launch. Take a ride yourself and soar above the trees and mountains. Alternatively, bounce down the twists and turns of the 400 miles (600 kilometers) of single-track mountain bike trails.

Fly-fishing here is superb. Rent gear or bring your own to Silver Creek Preserve, Lost River, Salmon River or Big Wood River to catch rainbows, browns, cutthroats, brook trout and more. Enjoy some relaxing golf at Trail Creek’s championship 18-hole course or White Clouds’ 9-hole alpine links environment.

From late November to April, explore the resort’s 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of skiable terrain, spreading across two mountains. Bald Mountain has a mixed terrain of 65 runs accessed via 13 chairlifts. Find zones designed specifically for glade skiing, snowboarding or family-friendly adventure trails.

On Dollar Mountain discover treeless runs that are ideal for first-time skiers or take lessons with qualified instructors. Refine your freestyling skills on the terrain park’s rails and halfpipe. Try other snow-based activities including sleigh rides, ice hockey matches and Nordic skiing or snowshoeing on over 25 miles (40 kilometers) of trails.

The area’s robust cultural scene includes the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, more than a dozen art galleries and eclectic annual events, such as the Trailing of the Sheep Festival. Dine at cozy cafés, fireside lounges and sophisticated restaurants.

Reach Sun Valley by flying to Hailey’s Friedman Memorial Airport and catching a bus or renting a car. Mountain Rides shuttles provide free transportation between the mountains and lodgings in Sun Valley and Ketchum.

Find information about accommodations, events, lift passes, ski lessons and summer activities on Sun Valley’s website.

Food and drinks at lodge was 3 out of 5. We had a mouse in our room and staff frequently forgot orders. This was my third time staying and found this to be off base for how they typically operate. Hopefully in future it’s better.
