Tancah, Tulum hotel rooms at the Independent

"Booked the couples romantic room. Ad says pool on your terrace but it’s a big bathtub, we would fill it up and the water leaked out after 20 minutes. Room was nice but the only plug in the bathroom was broken and sparked when you plugged something in. The outlet used for the coffee bar was also broke and would come completely out of the wall. The coffee pot was broken and took 3 days to get one that worked. The power in our room went out due to the faulty plug in the bathroom and it took them almost a hour to come turn the power back on so the air would work. The staff are all very nice and the resort is very clean. "

"I would definitely recommend staying at this resort! The rooms are cleaned and tended to multiple times a day. They even turned down your bedroom in preparation for you to go to sleep (slippers by the bed, water on the nightstands, chocolate on the bed). Helios the breakfast & lunch spot on TRS Adult side was good! definitely try the steak and omelettes! The outdoor pool is great. Cabanas were very comfortable. Staff & butlers are extremely helpful!"

"We have stayed at this resort a few times, with our first visit being 16 years ago, and we still love this property. The grounds are beautiful, and you can see how hard the staff works every day to maintain everything so well. We had no problems booking à la carte restaurants for five restaurants.We simply made all the reservations at once for the entire trip. Our favorite restaurant was the Mexico Lindo restaurant, and our server, Rigoberto, was excellent and provided great service. We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was great, and although it was warm, there was a nice breeze every day that made the heat much more pleasant. The only downside during this trip was the ocean and seaweed situation. Every day there was a red flag, strong waves, cloudy water, and a lot of seaweed. The staff worked incredibly hard doing manual labor to clean the beach, but it seemed almost impossible to keep up with it. I truly wish a better solution or machine could be found because the workers have to do this difficult job in the heat, and the smell can be very unpleasant. As a result, we spent most of our time at the pool, which was still enjoyable. However, if you are someone who loves the ocean and beach (which is the main reason we choose this type of vacation) this may be disappointing. I understand this depends on the season and is not the resort’s fault, but I wanted future guests to be aware. Thank you, Barcelo, and thank you to all the hardworking employees."

"The swim up family room was everything we needed and more, its actually 2 connecting rooms with 2 swim out pools. We had more than enough room for a family of five with 2 adult size kids and one 7 year old. The couch converted into a small bed and the King size bed is huge and comfy. The rooms were extremely spacious and amenities provided by the preferred concierge team were fantastic. The hotel itself was beautiful and food was a great variety, best coffee was found at the coffee shop in the lobby. We were able to access the grounds and surrounding areas easily and the community itself felt very safe and friendly. All staff on property but especially Guillermo our concierge and Nayelly in the restaurants were very helpful. Downside: Not much AC during meal times with the exception of Portofino. All other meal areas are outdoors or dont provide much ac ( world cafe). Corezone: NO AC at all Gym: only 1 working treadmill but very good AC and the other equipment available and location more than make up for it. We didnt use the kids area at all but thats because my little had a swimout to play in when we wanted to rest. "
