Beautiful hotel, comfortable rooms, great staff! Definitely the best we stayed at om the NC500, and a highlight of the trip.
Food is ambitious, but has room to improve.
We stayed in the Miller’s Cottage 2 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful dining for dinner and breakfast in the Forss House dining room. A lovely stop for us on our NC500 road trip!
We stayed one night then returned several nights later as was very happy with our first stay. Lovely property, good service & food. More suitable for adults in our opinion.
The best part of our trip so far. Nick was great - helping correct a lack of reservation information from expedia. Beautiful place. Would certainly stay there again. Nice restaurant.
Lovely area, very nice walkable paths, clean and comfortable rooms And we had a delicious dinner and breakfast. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Worth a visit
Our bedrooms were excellent.. recently modernised… the main hotel was ok service hit and miss but perhaps a skeleton crew as just after NewYear… had to request for the fires to be lit and the lighting was not good resulting in no ambiance…however the food was excellent..
This is my forth time here and as always it was outstanding. The room service and food all excellent, coupled with the surrounding just make this the perfect Scottish experience. Staff are lovely and very helpful, the food is of a Michelin standard and worth every pound.
Nearest thing to staying in a castle for us! Delightful evening with dinner and lovely conversation with other guests. Extensive whiskey list & wines to match a 3 course meal. Stayed in the fishing lodge as there are rooms in the house as well as detached lodges. Very comfortable and charming.
A friendly welcome awaited us at this beautiful property. Our room ( lodge) was stunning. Warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fell asleep to the sound of the river roaring down beside the lodge. Breakfast was served by efficient, very friendly staff and was delicious. Would definetly recommend and hope to return.
Stunning hotel but on the expensive side. Food is high end cuisine so don’t expect any simple fayre. The cabin room was beautiful. Evening meal is not cheap but beautifully cooked and presented.
A lovely and unusual property right on a loch. The breakfast room in this gorgeous estate has expansive views of the loch and hills. We stayed in the New Garden Suite, which was like having our own wing with a large room with a king sized bed and a remodeled bathroom. It was extremely clean, the bedding was high quality, and robes and slippers were provided. Breakfast was delicious with many options.
Friendly staff and were upgraded to room in the Hotel, rather than the cottages. Room was lovely and bathroom luxurious. Dinner and breakfast were served in the conservatory which had a lovely outlook of the gardens and a bird feeder which attracted a lot of birds. Dinner was excellent, Michelin Star material. We walked in gardens which were picturesque with Waterfall and WaterMill only about 50 yards from the Hotel. Check out the record Salmon in the Bar.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The location was absolutely beautiful and we loved the hiking trails around the property. Unfortunately, the food was not good and there were very little options for a vegetarian. The sautéed mushrooms were limp and greasy. The carpets in the main house were dirty and had holes in them. The floor in the granary cottage made your feet dirty after a shower and we found a snack wrapper from a previous guest under the coffee table in the living room area of our cottage leading us to question the housekeeping standards. We had to kill thirteen spiders when we arrived and seven the next day. I k ow it’s the country, but proper dusting and some mint oil would go a long way in terms of pest abatement and management.
The the mean house and nearby accommodations are in a forest settling and absolutely stunning. There are woks outlined on the property which makes your time they are both peaceful and quiet. The staff is exceptionally helpful from check-in to check out and the chef is highly skilled. My dinner was delicious as were both breakfasts. And I'd loved the way they greeted you at the bar settled you with a drink and then took you into dinner, vast managing both the food preparation and serving process to best advantage. This property is a gem.
Good location and couldnt fault the cleanliness,
Didn't venture into the bar or the restaurant as we arrived later in the evening. But upon looking at the menu in room it looks like a 3 course meal was costing £70pp regardless, and a taster menu was £95pp.
Wouldn't class it a high standard room with the in room offerings if thats what you're looking for ! But perfectly fine for us.
Bathroom was shiney spotless.
