Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
We specifically chose Dam Site Lodge because the property appeared to be a quaint, charming place to stay rather than a typical hotel along the highway. Unfortunately, the actual condition of the room was extremely disappointing and, in some respects, genuinely concerning.
When we entered our room, we found dead insects, as well as a cigarette butt left inside the room. The overall cleanliness and condition of the room were unacceptable.
More concerning, however, were the electrical safety issues. One electrical receptacle was actually pulled away from the wall and left hanging loose. This is not simply a cosmetic nor housekeeping issue—it presented a potential electrical and safety hazard.
Unfortunately, we arrived late at night while we were traveling, and we were in a relatively remote location. We did not have a reasonable alternative available to us at that hour. As a result, despite the condition of the room, we had no practical choice but to remain there for the night. Our decision to stay should not be interpreted as acceptance of the condition of the property.
We understand that this was not an expensive luxury accommodation, and we were certainly not expecting anything extravagant. We simply expected the room to be clean, sanitary, and safe. Dead insects, a cigarette butt, missing electrical outlet covers, and a loose electrical receptacle are well below what a guest should reasonably encounter in a property offered through Expedia. I have contacted Expedia.
