"Room was small but clean and functional.
Dinner and breakfast were very nice. Service could have been a bit quicker.
Reception staff were friendly, chatty and welcoming.
Bar looked nice but unfortunately didn't have a chance to visit.
Location in Oban was very good and central."
"The hotel was great! It's a solid example of a proper Scottish hotel. Though the carpet on the stairs on some floors was showing its age, I honestly find that that adds to the character. I don't want a plastic perfect Scottish hotel. I want proof of people.
The room I stayed in was the single, and it was a warm room, but the window opens all the way, which was so great. The view was nice as well from the 5th floor.
The breakfast is affordable and really good value.
I must give props to the in room amenities, especially the beverage station. The hot chocolate packet is a rarely seen gem, and it was such a nice way to wind down my evening. The shortbread wasn't the normal one you'd see, either, and it was delightful.
I would absolutely stay here again."
"If you are considering booking this hotel, don't. Unless you want to feel like you've stepped back in time 50 years! The hotel doesn't communicate or respond to any enquiries you may have. We arrived early and met with a rather rude & unhelpful lady. The room we were staying in was awful. Shabby, outdated and not worth the money. The bed was hard & uncomfortable and we left about 7am just to get out of there. Location is the only good thing about this hotel. Avoid at all costs! We wish we had read reviews before booking. I honestly can't believe Hotels.com are advertising this place. We feel cheated as we love Oban!"
"Our room was spacious and was cleaned thoroughly every day whilst we were there.Staff were all helpful and all appeared to know their job role and responsibilities.Breakfast was initially from a menu but was changed to a buffet on our last two mornings. Both ways were fine and there was a very good choice of hot and cold food.
The bar was well stocked and staff were pleasant and attentive.
We ate in the bar each night and the food was very good with several choices and priced very reasonably.
The hotel was close to the beach and was accessed by a board walk which we used. The hotel had a pool and spa which we did not use as we went out sightseeing each day.
The view from the hotel was stunning too."
"Helpful staff. Allowed parking during the day before check in. Had a superior room which was very spacious and included a fridge and coffee machine.
Dinner staff found a quieter place for us in the busy dining space (unusually the bar area was quieter)."
"Quite an unusual place. Fanciful colorful decor, designed by someone with a sense of fun. No visible staff. No reception desk—they tell you the room number and door passcode ahead of time. A well stocked bar, but no bartender—serve yourself honor system payment. Continental breakfast is already in your refrigerator when you arrive, and is high quality (with Prosecco!) and is magically restocked daily. It sounds bizarre but it works. Everything is in good repair and comfortable. Staff is available by phone if you have a problem, which we did and they were very responsive.
The big drawback is that walking to the Main Street and harbor, though close, is very steep. Highly recommend driving to the harbor parking lot."
"The room was clean. The bathroom has been renovated with good shower pressure. However, the beds were quite uncomfortable.
Note that there is no elevator on the premises - not a big deal for us but that may not be the case for everyone.
Lastly, the breakfast is overpriced. I would probably go out if I were to return. At 15 pounds each, that converts to just under $30 can. Even in overpriced Toronto, that’s expensive."
"Wonderful hosts whom made us a late request dinner. Rooms were clean and neat and everything was well decorated and functioning. A very nice breakfast as well. A minute to the ferry to Isle of Mull giving plenty of time for a day exploring Duart castle and Tobermorey.
Highly recommend!"
