“Badic accommodation. Poor value for money. A pub with rooms. You could smell the fried chips when you opened the door in the car park. The staff were jobs worth and not welcoming. Poorly maintained property which felt grubby. My room had a sash window broken so couldn't open it. Only good thing were the bath towels and good mattress. Pillows awful. Make sure you don't have a room on the front of the hotel as the noise from the road is continous through the night. I would not stay there...

“This stay at Blackthorn went above and beyond what I needed - some time and space for myself to write. In the comfort and peace of this hut in this location, I was able to write nearly 10,000 words, unheard of in my everyday busy life at home! The hut was perfect, the bed extremely comfortable with high-quality linens and duvet/pillows. Kitchen very well-supplied with everything I needed (and more). “The historic building is simply beautiful, very charming, and well-restored. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The service in the restaurant was very friendly but extremely slow. The food was rather mediocre. Breakfast was actually quite poor. There was barely a tablespoon of yogurt with the granola, and the toast was cold and hard like rusk. The location itself is beautiful.”
