Uluru, a large sandstone monolith in the heart of the Northern Territory in central Australia.

Desert sands in stunning shades of red will amaze you in this small town just a short drive from majestic Uluru in Australia’s amazing centre.

Stay in the township of Yulara to experience the best of the Red Centre region. Watch as the dazzling colours of sunset light up the region’s most famous natural landmark, UluruOpens in a new window. Ride a camel through rolling sand dunes and learn about one of the oldest living cultures in the world.

Start your day with a morning tour of Uluru, the 384-metre (1,260-foot) tall natural monument. Gaze in awe as the sun rises in the dawn sky, transforming the desert landscape.

The Cultural Centre located on the entry road to Uluru gives an insight into the culture of the Anangu Aboriginal people, the region’s traditional custodians. The centre’s architecture is based on ancestral stories and contains a souvenir shop and art gallery.

Rent a bike from the Cultural Centre and circle Uluru on a 15-kilometre (9-mile) track. Guided cultural tours will take you around Uluru’s base and explain the cultural traditions of the Anangu people and the sacred nature of the rock. Out of respect for their beliefs, the rock should not be climbed.

Enjoy a unique dining experience under the desert stars during a dinner tour. Choose the Sounds of Silence experience to hear an expert astronomer take about the constellations. At Tali Wiru, you can enjoy a four-course dinner followed by a captivating evening with an Aboriginal storyteller.

See the stunning desert landscape on a scenic helicopter trip or jump out of a plane to experience the thrill of Skydive Uluru. Ride a camel through the desert on a tour departing from the Uluru Camel Farm.

Fly to Ayers Rock Airport and take a free shuttle bus for the 9-kilometre (5-mile) journey to Yulara. Stay in one of the fantastic resorts or hotels and enjoy the convenience of being in the closest town to Uluru, which is only 20 kilometres (12 miles) away.

The magnificent natural setting of Yulara makes it a truly unforgettable destination.
