Altos de Chavon Village All inclusive Vacations

Majestic Elegance is amazing! The resort is beautiful and very well kept. There is nightly entertainment each night and is festive at night but no overly crazy. We stayed on the Elegance Club side which is adults only. It was very quiet and enjoyable. The pools were very clean. I read reviews where the pool tiles were coming off the bottom of the pools. But, at least on the adults only side, the pools were fine. Anyway, that is a petty thing to focus on anyway. The pools were amazing. Our butler, Santiago, was wonderful. He always made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us. He even checked us out when we were leaving which made things go smoothly. The food was great with a wide variety of foods to choose from each meal. The menu changes daily. The housekeeping service was excellent as well. The room was cleaned daily with the floor swept and mopped. We never had sand on our floor. Our refrigerator was restocked daily with plenty of water and sodas. Only a couple of negatives. I’m aware that August is peak season for seaweed however, they only cleaned the beach once the entire week we were there. Also, this is a smoking resort and it seemed the vast majority of people smoked which was a little annoying at times. Overall, our stay was excellent and I would highly recommend.

Overall we had a great time, the food is an all inclusive resort so it is never going to be great but it was good. The hibachi was very good, we did not like the Mexican restaurant and there was a 60 min wait. The worst part was sitting through the vacation package offer, they said it would be 90 min, we wasted almost 3 hours of our day listening to 4 different sales reps. I would never ever do that again. We figured we would listen for the discounted spa and excursion but I would rather pay full price then waste that much time and tell 4 different people we are not interested. I would strongly recommend not sitting through that unless you are actually considering buying something.

Expedia did a great job with our package travel (flight, hotel, transport). We stayed on the adult/club side of the Finest hotel. There is a mildew smell to the hotel initially but I have found this to be the case at many resorts. They do an excellent job of maintaining the property. Our room was amazing. The staff are hit or miss as far as friendliness. The club, check-in, bellmen, and host/hostesses are mostly friendly. Carlos at the restaurants was the nicest and so kind. The food was subpar most time with a few good dishes. Room service breakfast was the best. It would be nice to have authentic Dominican food done well than having American/International dishes done poorly. It seemed like they watched how to make the dishes but don’t know how it should taste. The sheets on our bed felt synthetic, closer to plastic than cotton. The ac blew the air over our heads so we were hot until at night until we figured out we should only sleep under sheet. The bed was uncomfortable. Otherwise our room was amazing, great view and amenities. The beach had a lot of seaweed because of the time of year we came but that didn’t negatively impact our stay. We walked over to the family side and the kids club looked amazing. We would not return to this hotel or to DR based on this experience but if we could have the room and amenities in another location with better food we would consider staying with Finest again with our kids.
