An historic hotel ,fun to wander round the gardens and public rooms. Staff fantastic, excellent at arranging taxis . Swimming pool is first class. Well worth a stay.
Lots of character and history, art deco bathrooms were stylish, and the Jardin is lovely. Nice pool too.
Let down a bit by a not great breakfast selection, and being invisible to most of the bar staff. But overall glad I visited.
Amazing hotel , very elegant and beautiful.Everything was perfect from pool area to the restaurant , quiet , family friendly definitely will be back

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The pool and the terrace bar are great- lively crowd and nice staff.
The garden needs some love and the rooms are fine. More expensive than some but an ideal space to relax.
Old fashion hotel. Rooms are old - clean, but used. Lot of local history, quiet location in the middle of city. Nice garden and restaurant. Chinese restaurant.
Beautiful hotel centrally located with incredible heritage but unfortunately not well maintained. The pool area was run down, the service very average (forgot to refill water, room not clean at arrival etc) but room with beautiful views and staff very friendly

Historic Property - needs updating
Public areas well maintained and historical nature of the property well preserved. Grounds are pleasant.
Bedroom old fashioned and in need of updates. Large bedroom and bed.
Bar had good selection of drinks and attentive service. Comprehensive breakfast selection, bar food order disappointing.
Surely a very historic hotel.great history. famouse guests. However, I'm sure neither che guevara nor edith piaf would like it today. Bathroom with rusty fittings, staff unfriendly and little helpful, equipment below standards (one towel for 2 persons, despire complaint), breakfast with drued cheese and salat leaves (but they charged fir two extra breakfast more than for a domestic flight). In europe, the hotel would get at most one or two stars.
The El Djazaïr hotel is a unique place in Algiers, with a special atmosphere. It's not the most luxurious or modern, and the service can sometimes be rough. But its Moorish-style architecture, ceramic decor, and garden make for a charming stay. On a practical level, breakfast is particularly varied, and the restaurant is a good option for dinner. The most negative point is the very late noise when there's a wedding... or when the tennis court is cleaned too early. You'll need multi-plugs to charge electronic devices from the room's only socket. Very good price for the value and atmosphere if you don't feel lost elsewhere than in an international chain hotel.
This 5-star hotel is located in Algiers Center, with parks and museums (Bardo, Antique & Islamic Art) in walking distance. Taxis are easy to arrange. My room had a great view over the white city and the Mediterranean. The hotel offers a nice variety of dining options, indoor and outdoor. I like in particular the photo gallery of famous visitors and the beautiful botanical garden.
