We have stayed here a couple of times and never disappointed. The hotel and bedrooms are very clean, staff super helpful, great outdoor area on the canal, and the coffee machine is always a nice touch. 100% recommend.
The view from the room was amazing, the location was close to museums and public transportation, the breakfast was great and a perfect way to start a day of exploring. The staff were helpful and attentive. I will be returning to the Amsterdam Canal Hotel, for sure.
Love this Quaint hotel in a good location to walk for sight seeing. This was my second time staying. Staff are amazing, so helpful and accommodating and go out of their way to help. Love the complementary happy hour enjoying a glass of wine before going out in the evenings, a nice little touch. Rooms clean and comfortable bed. No lift and very steep spiral stairs so for some that wouldn’t be ideal but doesn’t spoil the hotel if you are physically capable. The only drawback was the privacy level with the bathroom/toilet room, would have like the glass to be frosted all the way across for more privacy. Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting again soon.
We spent a week at the Amsterdam Canal Hotel and were very happy with our choice. Very well situated, just a 15/20 minute walk to the town center & museums. The breakfast was delicious and the complimentary happy hour was really enjoyable, we loved sitting by the canal after a day of sightseeing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
We loved the balcony room overlooking the canal we stayed in. Staff were friendly and so helpful with any questions.
Stairs are steep and narrow and there is no lift which was fine for us but may not be for others.
We would definitely stay here again.
The staff was awesome- thank you Nora for all your help. They had happy hour for all the guests and if you can get the room with the canal view- do so. We enjoyed watching all the boats pass by, neighbors visiting and the incredible thunderstorms!
This property was built circa 1890 and probably seen some of the darkest times in Amsterdam history and it remains as it was built, over 4 floors with reasonable size rooms overlooking canals to the rear and a main thoroughfare to the front.
There are also a couple of basement rooms (Souterrain)
There is no lift and the staircases are steep and narrow which adds to the overall charm of the hotel, providing you have a level of fitness.
The rooms are clean and tidy, the upper floors on the canal side offer a great view.
The staff are wonderfully helpful and go out of their way to help and attend to any needs.
It's an easy walk to either Rembrandtsplein or Leidseplein where there are dozens of restaurants to choose from, but it's a bit of a walk to the Red Light District (for the multitude of bars of course!) - but you don't need to go because the hotel has a FREE Happy Hour from 4pm offering bottled beer from just around the corner (Heineken), soft drinks, a selection of wines and hot drinks and a good selection of nibbles!
It has 24 hour manned reception.
We've stayed there twice and been very happy with our stay.
We were so happy with our accommodation. Sasha at the desk was very helpful. Morning coffee on the patio on the canal was a dream come true. We loved the “happy hour”
Provided by the hotel- it was a great way to meet other guests. The room was historical, romantic and well maintained. We loved Amsterdam and would definitely stay there again.
The view of the canal in the back rooms is wonderful. Location is great — easy walking distance to the Rijksmuseum and tram lines. Stairs are a challenge is you’re traveling with heavy cases.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful during our stay. The location is great, with many shops and restaurants nearby, which made it very convenient.
This location is great if you don’t want the loudness of the centrum/downtown area. The staff was great. The breakfast was a lovely way to start each day. We rented bikes and felt they were safe being locked up in that neighborhood. We felt our room had a great view of the canal. Bed was comfortable. We’d stay again!

This place worked well for us because we mostly used our room to sleep then were out all day. However, it is very small and many things are outdated. The complimentary happy hour was a huge bonus.
Great location near all museums and metro.
Stairs only - very steep. TV stations very limited and only in Dutch, no English. So self stream only free wifi.

Good location. Dated room decor. Very nice staff and a nice happy hour daily. Stairs to the third floor should be considered when booking. Canal view was pretty
