We had a wonderful stay here. A lovely village. The proprietor was amazing friendly, generous and caring and grew up in the village. We loved our stay here.
Álfheimar Hotel was a lovely 2 night stay for our small group. The town is small and cozy, we took a walk to the top of Alfborg and just love the ocean views.
We arrived late, about 9:45 pm, and they made sure to wait for us, got us taken care of quickly and showed us to our room. The included breakfast was a decent variety and got us going in the morning. It was a short stay but enjoyable and we would definitely stay there again.
Alfheimer is a gem on the east coast. We decided to stay another night. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Accommodations were perfect with a comfortable bed and great tasting food. The locally brewed beer is delicious as well. All around a wonderful experience. Should we ever come back to Iceland we will be back here.
Location on the water was beautiful and relaxing and a quick drive over to puffin island! Breakfast provided was able to cater to just about anyone’s dietary restrictions.
The area is rather remote but the ideal place to see puffins up close -- literally at your feet from the viewing platform that the town has built next to the puffin nesting area. The breakfast and dinner at the hotel were very tasty!
This is perfect for puffin watching(7 min drive). The northern lights are right outside the room or the hotel. Thats how dark it is next to the hotel. The breakfast was very good. The views around the hotels itself are very good. Staff is friendly and helpful, the receiptionist gave us tips on hiking etc
Really loved the buffet dinner we had. It’s the best meal we have had during our entire stay (15 days) at Iceland. This country style hotel is a gem. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.
It's cozy, room was nothing too special but totally fine for 4 of us (we had the room with 5 twin beds). We enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was pretty good and included. I had read another review where someone said they ran out of food by 8:30 (it's served 6-9) but there seemed to be a lot of guests when we stayed (parking lot completely full) and yet plenty of breakfast. I arrived to breakfast at 8:30, my wife and kids actually got there by 8:55 and the staff was kind and let them eat too. Great stay.
The staff were very friendly. The guy who checked us in was very welcoming. Room was clean. Bed was pretty flat/thin. Not too comfy. Location only 9 mins away from puffin marina. Which is the reason we chose this place. Breakfast is included. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
We got in after hours. Mike left us a note & key at reception.
Coffee was good with milk alternatives. Continental breakfast was great with local options.
Parking right outside our room.
Friendly staff, easy check in, large room
Great breakfast spread
Long drive in, up/down mountain on long winding road, so take care driving in, esp. if arriving in the evening
This was a lovely stay! Our room was just what we needed. Mike at the front desk was very helpful. We were going to wait to see the puffins until the next morning but were advised to go visit them that evening. Thank goodness we did!! Thousands of puffins to see. What a site. We went back in the morning and they were all gone hunting just as Mike had said. The drive out there was a little stressful but absolutely stunning! Highly recommend.
Amazing spot to see the Puffins… the staff was wonderful. It was on the pricey side. Our most expensive stop on the Ring Road by far.
Very small town, not much there, except an awesome Puffin experience. That’s must be the big price tag… and it was worth it!
A quiet place near the Norwegian Sea. To reach this place is through long and winding road but worth the drive. Breakfast was good and the front desk lady was very accommodating and easy to talk to. There were sheep roaming in front of the property but never seen any getting too close to the accommodation. Must be very nice during summer because it’s a puffin area but during our stay in end of September they are all gone.
