“I gave The Courtland an "excellent" rating not because it is excellent in the same way I would rate a 5-star Hilton in downtown Portland, for instance. This is an historic building, in an historic part of Ft. Scott. It is run by ordinary folks and everything in that neighborhood is, well, historic (or old). So, it doesn't have glitz but it does have charm and it is peaceful. I would stay there again if I ever return to Ft. Scott. The owners are wonderful people. ”

“Did not like the parking options. There wasn’t very much parking in convenient places, especially when they had a conference going on. Also did not like that they allowed people to smoke marijuana inside the rooms. The whole floor we stayed on smelled of marijuana all day long and all night long. It was horrible. Thankfully we weren’t in our room very much but to go to and from was bad! ”
