My husband and I had a wonderful 7-day stay at the Inn — easily the best decision of our trip. The room had a cozy scent of burned wood, beautiful views of the lake, and thoughtful daily cleaning with quality toiletries and bottled water in the fridge. The bed and closet were a bit small for two, and there were some bugs on the exterior windows, but that’s to be expected when surrounded by nature.
Breakfast was delicious and consistent, with a nice variety: eggs, bacon, grits, fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and even gluten-free toast and English muffins for my celiac husband — a big plus! We also loved the happy hour cheese board and the nightcap at the lodge. The staff were fantastic — warm and attentive.
The gardens were stunning, with lakes, sheep grazing freely, and even a few alligators. The Inn also thoughtfully honors its harsh history with slavery through stories, displays, and tours that promote reflection and remembrance.
We highly recommend this place — peaceful, beautiful, and rich in history.
