"Visiting Chena Hot Springs Resort is a truly unique Alaskan experience, located about a 1.5-hour drive from Fairbanks. While it offers memorable family-friendly activities, careful planning is required—especially regarding transportation and supplies. Highlights & Family Activities Aurora Ice Museum: A fantastic, one-of-a-kind family activity. Exploring the stunning ice sculptures is a must-do while you are here. Natural Hot Springs: A wonderfully relaxing experience for adults (note that the natural rock lake is restricted to ages 18 and older, while families with children can enjoy the indoor heated pool). Aurora & Sunset Tours: Excellent opportunities for viewing the Northern Lights, weather permitting. Crucial Practical Tips for Travelers Bring Your Own Water: Stock up on bottled water before driving out to Chena. Water on the property frequently sells out, and purchasing a small bottle at the resort can cost around $3. Transportation & Car Rentals: Renting a car in Fairbanks is by far the most recommended option. While you might get lucky and find an Uber or Lyft driver willing to drop you off for around $90, do not rely on rideshare services or their "Reserve in Advance" feature for the return trip to Fairbanks.
